PURRfect for BIG HONKIN CHONKERS — IF you do one simple upgrade
If you have big cats, you know the struggle to find a quality cat tree that can hold up to the wear and tear of toddler-sized creatures chasing each other up and down it with wild abandon. This cat tree is perfect for truly LARGE cats in the 20 lb. range, with ONE minor DIY upgrade that I’ll explain at the end of this review. So, here goes: ————— We have 4 cats, and 3 of them are BIG. And when I say BIG, I mean BIG. Two of them are giant part Maine Coon fluff monsters; each weigh close about 20 lbs while still being healthy and slim — it’s just that they’re like 3-4 feet long from nose to tail. Another (see last pic) has a normal sized frame, but is just plain fat. (She’s on a diet, but it doesn’t seem to be working for her. It’s an ongoing issue; we are working with the vet on it.) Anyway, after little miss Chonker destroyed her second cat tree in as many years (again, see last pic — in addition to easily removing all of the sisal rope with her claws within weeks of purchase, she loved the cuddle cup so much that she gradually bent the metal frame with her heft until it snapped, and then she still tried to sit in it 😹), I decided we needed to get away from cheap cat trees made for normal house cats and embrace the fact that our giant weirdos need something more substantial. If you’ve ever shopped for cat trees aimed at larger breeds, you know that there are only a few small companies specializing in climbers for Maine Coon-sized kitties. They are incredibly costly, almost always sold out, and the waiting lists are long. So I decided to give this cat tree a try because 1. It was less than $300 and available now. 2. The listing photos featured ACTUALLY large cats weighing over 20 lbs. 3. The scratching post supports appeared to be 2-3x as thick as competing models. 4. The wooden cuddle cup platform looked much sturdier than the metal basketball hoop style ones 5. It has enough platforms and cubbies for all 4 of our cats with room to spare. When it arrived, I had my son put it together because he’s 6’4” and this thing is HUGE, even taller than he is. I can’t even comfortably reach a cat sitting on the top platform and I’m 5’7”. (It is a MUCH more prominent feature in my living room than I was expecting, but honestly, this is the cats’ house anyway; they just allow us to live here and pay the bills as their servants. Fellow cat people will understand.) We marveled at the thickness of the supports and the well-constructed platforms. The cats loved it and tried to settle in on it before it was even all the way put together, so my son had to keep shooing them away. When it was all constructed, they took to it with great enthusiasm and have been jockeying for the “best” spot every day since — which is once again the cuddle cup. All was well for about a week, until we noticed the layered wooden platform holding the cuddle cup was — NOOOOOO!!!! You guessed it — starting to bend. Not a lot, just a little, but it was clear to us that we needed to reinforce it sooner rather than later. (My estimate based on unscientific testing with household objects is that bending will occur with any cat over 15 lbs.) So here is what we did to shore it up: Under two of the wooden platforms, there are small D-ring anchors screwed in for suspending puffy cat toys. As you can see in the photos, these toys do not last long at our house — Stellar, the fluffy tuxedo in the pics, had them both chewed off within 36 hours. But they gave me an idea. I went to the local home improvement store and picked up a kit meant for hanging heavy mirrors. It had everything I needed and then some, but you can buy the components you need individually, as well. What you need: A drill A phillips-head drill bit A very small drill bit for making the pilot holes - it needs to be smaller in width than whatever size screw you use 2 metal D-ring anchors 4 wood screws of the proper size for your D-ring anchors (buying a mirror hanging kit simplifies this tremendously because the sizes have been chosen for you) Picture hanging wire of the appropriate weight tolerance for your cats (the mirror hanging kit came with wire that can support 50 lbs.) What you want to do is attach a sturdy metal D-ring anchor to the underside of the top platform, as close to the support post as possible (it’s easiest to remove the top platform for this part — you will need to drill two tiny pilot holes for the screws and it’s much easier to access without the post in your way). You want the D part of the anchor to point directly toward the furthest edge of the cuddle cup support platform. Then attach a D-ring anchor to the top side of the cuddle cup at the outside edge, with the D pointing straight toward the center post. After that, you just have to run the picture hanging wire between the two D-rings, pull it taut, tie it off and secure it at both ends (there are tutorials on YouTube to show you the proper way to tie it off; it’s easy to do, but there’s really no way to explain the process without visuals), and turn the cuddle cup platform into a suspension bridge. The trickiest part here is keeping the line taut while tying the knots — an extra set of hands make this easier; I once again enlisted my son to help. As you can see from the photos, our solution seems to be a success. The cuddle cup no longer bends under their weight, the wire is barely visible from a few feet away (making this a more aesthetically attractive solution than some other reinforcements we considered), and the cats don’t seem to mind the presence of the wire. I will update if our solution fails or we upgrade the cat tree further, but for now, we are very happy to have a cat tree worthy of our giant fluffy monsters that should serve them well for years to come.

Well made and sturdy
The last cat tree I had fell apart--it was junk--made of carpet and cardboard. I was determined not to make the same mistake again. This cat tree is very well made and designed for a large cat. It is all sisal, no carpet, the screws are long enough to hold the pieces together tightly. Before I had even finished putting it together, my cat was in it. He loves the hammock, the condo and the perches. Every post is a sisal scratching post. I did a lot of research and this was the highest rated cat tree I found. It is well worth the price because it is solidly made, sturdy, safe and big enough for my 14 lb Maine coon and should last a long time. The cushions are removable and washable. Easy and quick to assemble, although the instructions aren't great. It's the best cat tree I have come across...I can highly recommend.

Built for Real Cats!!!
I researched cat trees on line for several weeks before picking this particular one. I have one hefty cat and am adopting 2 farm kittens when they are ready. I was looking for a heavy duty, safe, multi perched and nice looking tree. Short of harvesting a tree and building one myself this is the best one I’ve found. I am a senior female and put this together in around 30 minutes from unpacking to complete. It is solid wood construction, so heavy and stable. This one isn’t going to tip over and hurt the cats. The 5 separate perches each came with plush beds, sling and covers. They are held on to wood with high quality Velcro that is securely stapled to wood. The round hidey-hole is solid wood and prebuilt for ease of assembly. The sisal covered round units are 6”diameter and again-stable and secure. If the price is giving you pause, don’t let it. Even on a 4 month payment plan you can’t go wrong and you’ll love this cat tree!!! It is like a high quality piece of furniture in my living room.

My crew of 8 say it’s big and small cat APPROVED!
To say my cats and me are obsessed is still an understatement. I love that this tree is sturdy, large, and accommodating a multi cat household is absolutely no issue at all! I have 8 total cats, ranging 6lb to 22lb. Maine Coon, Khao Manee, British Shorthairs, Scottish Straight, and domestic longhairs and we have no issues with all of them using and beating this thing up since about September last year. I LOVE being able to remove the cloth bits to wash them! It’s January 2026 now and I only have ONE critique and a small comment! 1. The grey basket isn’t removable so you do have to clean it where it’s at. I’m 5’8” so I reach it ok and can vacuum in the crevices with my Dyson but if a cat had an accident for some reason or threw up you wouldn’t be able to remove it. Mine don’t so, it’s been ok for me. 2. I wish I’d have sealed, or stained then sealed the wood bits. They’re raw finish, no glaze or anything. So any dirty feet from over time DO leave marks and it’s more obvious once I remove the hammocks that I can see where they constantly step. I just rest and ensure I wipe it often. I think this spring I’ll take it apart and sand then seal it. These things considered it is still an easy five stars for me. I’m debating buying a second one since I have so many more cats (I had 4 when I got it), and I have a cat room now. It fills space beautifully and is elegant while being sturdy, and it isn’t an eyesore. I can imagine with a cherry stain it will be stunning! It’s worth every penny.

Slow shipping i ordered on Jan 4th , received Jan 20th . Maybe not an issue for some . Now , it is heavy , solid wood , each piece is 3/4 inch in thickness . the scratching posts are 5 1/2 inches across , not the standard 2 1/2 like most , i brought the pieces upstairs , 2 at a time , to where i had decided on placement of the tree. I am 70 and assembled it myself using the tools it came with , the trickiest part was the very first platform , ( not the base ) it has 3 holes drilled , couldn"t figure out what the third hole was for so had to ignore it and move on . the second tricky one was the round platform with the wooden slats , it took a little jiggling but , success in the end . the rest is straightforward , take your time . If you have assembled boxed pieces before you should have no trouble . Some reviews have said they have reinforced some areas and if you have more than one big cat , you may want to do that . It is a beautiful piece and it should last my cat for his lifetime . This is a heavy item , about 80 pounds , i added casters to make it easier to move .
