No Child of Mine

I bought this book based on the number of 5* reviews and didn't pay much attention to what the book was about. Big mistake!! I have since read the 1* reviews and came across one where the reviewer said she'd thrown it in the bin.I did try to read it but kept thinking about stopping as I found the storyline too upsetting to read, ie a father raping his 3-year-old daughter and blood running down her leg. I read for entertainment and that, as far as I'm concerned, is most definitely NOT entertainment. I found the book distressing and gave up on it; there was one sentence in there which has stuck in my mind and I really don't think that information should be put in a book for perverts to pick up on. I would say that Susan Lewis is a good writer as the book was easy to read but the topic was just too upsetting and I wish I'd never bought it.

Just finished 'No Child Of Mine'....PHEW! At first I was struggling with some of the subject matter and wondered if I was going to be able to read the whole book as at times I found it very disturbing. I'm glad I did though because despite there being some quite harrowing moments this book is very well written with so many different threads. This is Susan at her best! There's so much depth and it's full of twist and turns, I found it hard to put down. You really feel for the charachters and it's an insight into what a very difficult job social workers (and foster careres) do every day. I can't praise this book enough!

This book was amazing. I have ordered Dont let me go which is the next book in trilogy. I hope it comes tomorrow because I cant wait to find put what happens next. Ive read a few of Susans books and she is an excellent author.

Did not like this book at all. very drawn out. Only read halve. I would not recommend this trilogy at all. B

I like it how Susan Lewis took it upon herself to address unusual topics, and drawing us closer to those who suffer unnoticeably in this world. the book is well written and i liked very much the background drawn for the characters. Cannot wait to read the other book "do not let me go".Thanks Susan
