As a FFL and “cerakote” applicator I use these daily!
First and foremost for those of you who are saying they are drilled too deep in a way you’re right, but you’re wrong too. Having larger depth for holding a roll pin is essential for them staying in place and not wiggling all around while you’re starting them.We have quite a few sets of them in the shop, and keep spares in the drawers. With ours we have taken each pair of them, sand blasted them and painted them red and neon greenOn set 1 we left it as they are depth wise (neon green)On set 2 we ground down the end so that the roll punches are 1/4 of their designed depth, this way we can use them in smaller roll pins. (Red)Seriously at 10 bucks a set / 2.50 ea punch just buy 2 and sand one back to a much shorter length. We have beat the ever loving snot out of these punches for years and have yet to have any fail on us. This is 10 bucks well spent

Roll Pin Punch Depth Is Excessive
These appear to be well made tools at a great price but with one glaring problem for those who need a roll pin starter, the depth is excessive. Product descriptions says these are great for AR builds, but not for any of the shorter roll pins such as for most smaller roll pins used on AR upper receiver parts such as for forward assist retaining pins and gas block pins. The shorter roll pins fit so deep, they are completely encased in the punch, and it is impossible to get a start on them without filling the hollow punch with something to make the holes shallower so as to allow for enough of the pin to show to function as a starter. For longer roll pins, these should work great, but they are simply too deeply hollowed to work on the many smaller roll pins on an AR. If they were half as deep, these punches would work for most AR roll pins.

Does the Job
These roll pin punches work very well, but could stand to be a bit longer (maybe 2-3") for getting at hard to reach areas. Tip: Be sure to lubricate the cavity of the punch to make it easier to pull off once the roll pin is started.

Don't buy
Looking for some roll pin punches to do some work and build some stuff? Look elsewhere. Like others, I had issues with the hole being too deep and had to stop using them or else my pins would get stuck in the punch. I shouldn't be required to modify the tools and put plugs in the hole to keep the pins from getting driven into the punch.Pathetic and a one month return window is not acceptable. Clearly the manufacturer doesn't stand by their tools.

uh...look elsewhere
These fit roll pins very well, but the pockets are too deep. Marketed for building rifles, but the pins go almost entirely into the cup, not allowing you to get the pin set into place to switch out to regular pin punch. May be great if you shave off about .020 or .025 off the end.

Bought by accident. But found uses
To be honest, i bought this size by mistake, but their not exspensive so i wasn't going to return them and i have had a few uses for these smaller sizes come up. They seem to be nice and strong aswell. For an accident it was a good one lol

Good Quality
Good quality material and workmanship. But I also found the gas tube size too deep for the roll pin. If you don't have Dremel or bench grinder it might be a problem. Given the prices out there I probably would buy from Squirrel Daddy. Just a thought.

I needed these for this guy and they work well!
Let me start by saying I picked these due to the cost (or lack thereof) as they seemed strong and have a hole on the back to get roll pins started. Did I mention they are inexpensive? These did a good job on my upper and I used them to get the gas block pin and forward assist in. They worked for both and didn't bend, irritate me or get in the way (I'd hope not or the rating would've been a total opposite). If you need some inexpensive roll pin punches to get you by for an inexpensive build, these are great! I'd buy a brass set if I used these more or for a business but these are priced to a point and work well. Awesome value
