Sturdy, spacious sling pack
I bought this a couple of weeks ago and got to put it to the test during a four-day fishing trip to Upstate New York over the Labor Day weekend. Here's my take:Good news: The construction and stitching are solid, and the main compartment has plenty of room for multiple small fly boxes and some extras such as snacks and a sandwich. I found the strap to be also very solid. The pack's "shoulder" -- where the strap attaches to the pack -- has some useful loops, and this is where I've put my 8" hemostat (for getting hooks out of fish mouths). I attach my tippet spools on one of the D rings -- it works well. A standard 16-ounce water bottle fits nicely in the side bottle pocket, and being able to cinch it tight so it doesn't fall out is a good thing. The pack has a carry handle on top of it, and I found myself using it on a regular basis to carry it like a lunch box when I didn't want it over my shoulder. The fabric MOLLE loops on the front of the pack (on the face of the smaller compartment) are solid, and I wouldn't hesitate to put a carabiner or two on them. The very smallest compartment on the very front of the pack should be used only to hold flat items (such as your fishing license, maps, etc.) that you don't need to access very often.Bad news: There isn't too much wrong with this pack, but one thing is significant. The strap mounts at the top center of the pack. This is bad. FibLink wants to market this item to right-handed and left-handed anglers, and in doing so it serves neither very well. Being centered as it is, the strap does not fit comfortably around the neck. During my fishing trip, I was regularly in the water up to my waist, so I cinched up the strap to try to keep it out of the water. That made things worse; the strap was really uncomfortable around me, especially with the weight of a water bottle on the pack. It was more on my neck than on my shoulder. I found that if I could get away with loosening the strap so the pack hung low on my hip, it was much more bearable. My experience is that sling packs need to be dedicated to being left or right -- not something in the middle -- for this exact reason. It's important to note that this pack's strap is NOT removable -- one side has a handy snap hook, but the other side is permanently affixed. The best straps will have a curve to them; this one does not. I got a little tired of the strap digging on my neck, so at one point I set the pack down on the river bank and fished totally unencumbered. Well, I forgot about it and walked back to my truck before realizing my mistake. (Fortunately, my spot was remote, so it was still there when I raced back to get it.) You'll find yourself doing the same thing -- taking it off while you fish. Also, I agree with another reviewer who said that the cord inside the main compartment is more of a nuisance than an asset. Conclusion: The people who bought this to serve as a bookbag and who feel it's a terrible product are total idiots. It is not a bookbag. It is a fishing sling pack. Duh! FibLink has constructed a very solid and versatile product. If they could solve the strap issue, they'll have themselves a home run. I'm going to continue using this sling pack, but I'm going to try to figure out a home remedy for the strap. (Fiblink, if you read this review and want to use me to test a new design, I'm all for it.) While I can't give it a perfect rating, I feel it is a good value for your money.

Outstanding shore fishing bag
I've fished for years with a fanny pack slung over my shoulder with a small golf towel attached. I most often fish local ponds and mobility is important. The fanny pack style tackle bags, even the larger ones, are just too small for me. I was constantly unloading 75% of my stuff from the main pouch just to get what I needed, then repacking. I needed something that could fit more stuff while being well organized, accessible and easily slung over a shoulder to change fishing spots. I feel like this bag is the perfect combination of capacity and organization. I've got 2 Plano 3650 boxes in the main compartment, which is probably overkill just for my pond fishing setup, but I've got choices with me. There is a spot for pliers on the side with a velcro strap to hold them in. On the front, the small top pouch is perfect for a small screwdriver, line pick (baitcasters), cell phone, line clippers/cutters, small bug spray, etc. The larger front pouch is perfect for plastics. I think I have about 12 packs in there. Plenty of MOLLE, velcro and D-rings for towels or lanyards for your pliers and flashlights or whatever. You can separate your stuff so that you can easily get what you need without pulling everything out. The rod holder is the only useless thing on here. There is zero chance that I'm putting one of my rods in something like that, out of my immediate control. That's just asking to jam/break a tip on a several hundred dollar rod. Materials seem pretty good and don't see any issues with stitching or zippers. I don't really see how you could do better for a shore fishing setup. I would even say that it's great for kayak or canoe fishing. Easily the best $30 I've ever spent on fishing gear!

Like it would could love it
I love this bag! Probably one of my more favored fiblink products I've purchased. The only thing is I would not say it is 100% waterproof. Out on the kayak and a decent rain came. I may as well have had the zippers all the way open.

Perfect Pack
I absolutely love the backpack I purchased for fishing. They had what I needed and I was willing to purchase it. Items like this are hard to read about and try and visualize how they would fit, what you could put into them and how well they would hold up. I must admit I had some hesitation, but, after much research of other products and looking at other stores like cabela and bass pro, I settled on this bag. I love this pack, and it has been extremely useful. My son and I hike all the time to go into small steams and rivers. We fish for bass and trout, and the pack holds all the equipment I need, to try my best to out fishing him. Enough room for my gear, water and lunch. I've used it at least a dozen times now and pretty much toss it around like a rag and it hasn't had an issue yet. All the pockets are easy to get into and plenty of room for my needs. I'll try and add a photo, in hopes it helps with your decisions.

Good, compact, tackle storage
Lots of useful pockets... lots of extra straps... first thing I did was unclip 3 of the extra straps... Iโll probably remove the cord from inside of the main pocket because it kind of gets in the way of my tackle boxes, when Im putting them in/taking them out... but some reviewers have said that its useful for using that pocket flap as a โtableโ

Great Fishing Bag, Needs a few mods.
This is a great bag, and it holds a lot. However, the zipper on the main pocket goes all the way around on 3 sides instead of stopping 4 inches from the bottom. If you try to open the bag and it is full, the weight of the stuff pulls the bag open. There is a cord on the inside that is wound through some loops to avoid this but they get in the way. Remove the cord, replace one corner of the loop system with a zip tie, and it will hold one of the 2 corners with a zipper closed so everything doesn't fall out.
