What kind of light source does this use? Does it generate heat?

I believe this product is great, especially for its price point. There are 2 things it's not: 1) A high end professional scanner for Pro photographers. 2) A high volume machine - you have to scan each slide/negative then upload it to your computer, do some editing/clean up. But if you have some highly desirable film you want to upload to fb and don't mind doing some work - this will do the job. Otherwise send you film to a service and let them do it.

20mp as advertised by the manufacturer.

I don't use a SD card. I save direct onto the device then hook up directly to the computer via the USB No problems encountered saving and the deleting. Hope this helps.
