Coghlan'sEmergency Tinder Kit

I bought these to take on a survival hike with my brothers and some friends in the remote wilds of Montana. We took very little with us, and were limited to a very small bag of necessities. These ended up in my pack, and were certainly life savers. As long as you tear the little thing up into lots of tufts, it will start for you with a flint and steel in freezing snow, rain, or whatever else the wilderness throws at you. I tested these a couple of times before I went on the trip, and they didn't disappoint in the field. Now a permanent addition to the bug out bag, and our family's 72-hour kit. Ive also thrown a couple into the glove box of my pickup with a flint just in case. I highly recommend for boy scouts, and anyone else needing to start a fire quickly in any condition,

These are great for backpacking and light instantly with a spark from a ferro rod. They come in a small plastic case that will keep them clean and keep the wax from getting on other items.

Product worked exactly as expected. The flint striker is a bit smaller/hard to work with, but the tinder lights very easily. The only thing I don't like is the plastic case will probably crack with the first drop/smash, but you can take all the contents and stick them into an Altoids can. If we all have a choice, we're using a lighter, so this makes a great emergency backup, or if you need several minutes of fire to start some wet kindling.

Not something I ever want to have to use, but if you're stranded, of caught hiking and freak cold snap hits, matches are wet or lighter wont light, this gadget will not only get your fire started but will do it over and over, keep in your car and one with camping/hiking gear!

Coghlan's stuff is hit and miss for sure, but this is one of their better products. The tinder is small, lightweight, waterproof and VERY easy to ignite. Use it as per the directions. For those saying it doesn't burn 5-7 min it prob because they are pulling it apart too thin.

It's good to have around for some fun weekend outings, and in the GO-BAG! No complaints.... well packaged, takes spark well!

Works well and it's light and simple at a low price for the safety it provides for a hunter, camper or backpacker when you need a fire and like most of us you might not be an expert fire starter with two sticks on a rainy day.

Es un poco complicado sacar la chispa con el pedernal pues es muy pequeño... pero ya una vez que le agarras la maña funciona bien (recomendaria comprar por separado un pedernal de tamaño "normal").Al respecto del material combusible, está super... prende rapido, saca buena flama, durando un poco mas de 3 minutos (claro que esto depende de las condiciones del clima y la madera que le ponga uno para encender).
