Great little Camera, Could have a better FOV
The media could not be loaded. The ATLI EON Time Lapse Camera has been great. It came with a silicone type case that is supposed to protect it from weather. I was skeptical, but it seems to be doing great. I have it mounted on a tripod and plugged into a solar charging battery backup pack, so mine always stays at 100%. I did this because it was draining the battery in a few hours of time lapsing a pool build. (1 shot every 2 sec.).THE GOOD:The image quality in the videos are great. I couldn't be happier with most of the camera. It is fairly easy to use, it has been rained on, and exposed to lots of dust, and it has never waivered. You can download straight from the app to your phone without moving the camera. I would set it up to record a max of 3 hours, and then start a new video, and every 3 hours I could download the last 3 hours while the camera continued to record.THE NOT SO GOOD (But not really bad): The biggest complaint I have it probably the Field of View (FOV). Maybe that's my lack of experience in photography and videography but, I would prefer a slightly wider angle than 72 degrees. The app is OK. once you figure everything out on it, it does good. and you can connect to the camera, set your shot, tell the camera to go, and then disconnect and walk away for the rest of the day. The app is a little buggy and sometimes shows bad previews, but every video I have pull off the camera has been perfect.

Not the easiest camera to use, but it's pretty good for the money
The media could not be loaded. I have had a Brinno timelapse camera since 2017, and have given it a lot of use. It works, and for a while it was the only thing out there that you could use for a long-term time-lapse video. I have several Panasonic Lumix cameras that do gorgeous time-lapses, but they are really ideal for shooting over a few hours, not a few days or weeks. Then I heard about this ATLI EON camera and decided to get one. First things first: The ATLI EON makes better time-lapse videos than the Brinno I have, and the ATLI camera is easier to set up using its app. (Which is a downside -- you *must* use a cellphone app to operate the ATLI camera, and I don't like loading my phone with apps. But that is the only way you can use this camera.)At first, I found the ATLI EON to be difficult to connect to my cellphone using WiFi. I would walk over to where the ATLI camera was shooting a video and open the app on my cellphone. I'd tap and tap and tap on things, and finally it usually connected. Then I learned the trick: Go into your phone's settings first and tell it to connect to the ATLI camera's WiFi. Once I did that, getting the app to respond was MUCH faster.Once connected, it's easy to set the time-lapse interval, time period, and even play back what's been shot so far. Setting up for a shoot, it's easy to see the focus on the cellphone's screen.Speaking of focus, the ATLI EON camera does not impress me with the clarity of its images. It's not bad, but no one will mistake its image quality with what I get from my much more expensive Panasonic cameras. That's understandable, I guess, but a little more clarity would be nice. More controls on the camera itself would be nice, too... but that would raise the price. With my review is a photo of a set up where I shot a time-lapse video of three iris blossoms. I had a large softbox light providing the illumination, and I shot the video over 11 days. Also posted with this review is the time-lapse video of the flower. It's not bad, but it doesn't pop like the videos I get from my better cameras. Still, the ATLI is better than the Brinno I have.So if you want to do extended time-lapse videos and don't want to spend a lot of money, the ATLI EON is an okay choice. It is definitely better than the low-cost Brinno camera (although the Brinno has an excellent environmental enclosure that the ATLI EON does not have). I will continue to use the ATLI EON for long-term shoots.

Love these little cameras, tons of uses!
The media could not be loaded. Hi folks,I am a professional timelapse photographer, specializing in long term botanic timelapse. I have spend time working on botanic timelapse for Nat Geo, BBC, History, NZTV, Here is my take on the Atli EON.They are freaking awesome. I have always liked the idea of using action cameras for timelapse photographer because of their small size you can cram them about anywhere. Unfortunately, most action cam brands (I’ve used them all) are all severely lacking when it comes to timelapse photography. I was very excited when I first learned about the ATLI Eon, and then surprised to see a $199 price tag. So I decided to jump in and pick up a couple.Initial feelings when unboxing, I appreciate the packaging and effort to pay attention to detail. When you first open the box everything is well laid out. The camera itself felt sort of cheap initially, but once the battery was installed and the silicon protective cover was on, it felt much better. In fact it feels every bit as solid as offerings from DJI or GoPro.They come with a 16gb card, which I find it easy to fill up so I picked up some 64gb. You may be fine with 16, especially if just filming timelapse and not keeping the still image files.I was really impressed to see an actual ¼-20 tap in the bottom so it will work with traditional camera mounting systems. I always hated the gopro style connectors, so this was a nice surprise. It also comes with a mini tripod that works surprising well and feels very well made. There is a USB-C power connector (there is no data transfer over this port) and believe it or not, a little 2.5mm jack used for triggering events. This can be used to trigger motion control systems, and even other cameras believe it or not. If one is industrious enough and knows how to build Arduinos, you could even build it a little LED light which the Atli EON can trigger to turn on before it meters for an image. The memory card slot does not have access through the rubber case, which is not a big deal.Lets talk about the rubber case. Nowhere does Atli claim this is a weatherproof camera, but I have had them exposed to downpouring rain and so far they have survived quite fine. The case comes in two parts, one for the body, and another for the lens which comes with a built in UV filter. The rubber on the lens portion is flared allowing it to cover over the rubber on the body case where the lens protrudes, giving it extra weather protection.Lets talk about the lens for a moment. Manual Freaking Focus (read that again).Yes. Manual focus. I was so happy to see that. It offers pretty decent macro abilities, and has a notch when twisting the lens to know when it is focused for landscape. Never seen manual focus on something like this, huge bonus. Leave the AF for the action cams. This is NOT an action cam.Image quality. It appears to be every bit on par with any other action camera I have used. The timelapse recording is only 1080p, but so far I have been very unimpressed with the 4k efforts of the main action cam brands, so 1080p is fine with me. If you capture with the Video and Photo record option, you will get 2688x1520 resolution jpegs, so if you want a little extra wiggle room on resolution you can always render the videos yourself after massaging the image files in your favorite program.Battery life. Upwards of 100 hours of filming. 100 hours. And I have tested this, and yes, I have managed 100 hours. The system can run in an ultra low power mode for long term captures. And if provided a USB power source will run indefinitely. Just for fun I set one up with a small solar USB panel and generally it works pretty well. When the sun hits the solar panel the camera charges up. When the sun goes down it runs off battery and then recharges the next day. It has not been completely reliable in this configuration, but it was a hacked together solution. Atli has been hinting that they are coming out with an all weather long term setup that can run off solar as well.Control is pretty good. There is no display on the camera, just an LED. Everything is done through the app which gives a good live view. If running off battery you can connect them to your wifi network and they will stay up and connected making it pretty easy to access them. If not connected to the network just tap the power button and the camera will wake up and turn on its wifi and you can access it. This works pretty well, I have not had much issue connecting to any of the 11 I now use.The controls provide quite a few options, you can just have it start recording, or you can build out pretty complex scheduling with them as well. It also offers an IR mode for IR timelapse and photography. For my own work I have found these to be incredibly handy. Good for behind the scenes footage of my robots filming plants. Another handy use is when I get a new plant with intent to film it, I can immediately put a could atli’s on the plant to study the behavior and ensure it is staying in good health. I have used them to film caterpillars eating, ants tunneling, flowers blooming, the list goes on.In summary, for $199 you get a LOT of bang for your buck. If you keep your expectations for image quality to that of your typical action cams and not that of a full frame camera you will not be disappointed. As I mentioned, I have 11 of these now and constantly find myself experimenting around with them. They have all performed wonderfully. I cant recommend these enough whether you are a seasoned timelapse photographer, or if you’re are new looking for a fun way to get started. The team at ATLI has really nailed it with this design.
