A Great Addition To Any Child's Bookshelf With An Important Message About Kindness
As someone who loves "Do not wish for a pet ostrich" by the same author, I was very excited to read this story next. Just like the first book, this one is a fun and magical read that entertains children and parents alike. The story revolves around Kat, a little girl who wishes for a unicorn-themed birthday party. Her mum agrees to it, and they order the perfect unicorn. There’s just one problem. When the unicorn arrives, it isn’t as shiny and sparkly as advertised! How will Kat and her guests react? Without spoiling the twist ending, I can say that the book delivers an important message about kindness and encourages children to be kind to others, even when things don't go exactly as planned. The book is written in rhymes that flow smoothly and keep children engaged throughout. The illustrations are super fun with lots of details and really bring the story to life. Overall, this is a charming book that my children enjoyed immensely and that they keep wanting to read over and over again.

It’s easy to see why the children love this book so much!
I think I enjoyed this book just as much as the children! We read this to the little ones 3 times in a row and its since become a firm favourite in our house. It’s a delightful story about Kat a little girl who wishes for a unicorn-themed birthday party. When her mum says ‘Yes’ Kat carefully selects the perfect unicorn, but when she arrives from the Uni Express, they discover she hasn’t bathed in 21 days! The message in this book is around thoughtful, kind and caring intentions, and in particular, the sentence that resonated most for us was;‘For, the spirit of kindness will always shine through- when we all work together to help someone blue.’It’s easy to see why the children love this book so much, it’s silly and rhyming and full of fantasy with mentions of clouds, rainbows, mermaids and fairies, even an ostrich! We can’t wait for the next book and some more laugh out loud adventures.

Brilliant story teaching children empathy and kindness
Yet another great book from the author. Once it said the unicorn was discounted, I laughed so hard and I said to myself “okay, expect unexpected!”. Poor thing arrived all frizzy and puffy-eyed, hadn’t been washed for 21 days. I love how it teaches the kids compassion and teamwork through humour and imagination. It was easy to read and rhyming was spot on.I downloaded this book for free but will purchase a physical book, too. I can’t wait to read her next book! It looks like the Elf is coming to town for Christmas..?! 🙄

My five year old daughter loved it
My daughter has requested this book three times so far over the last couple of weeks. She said “the unicorn’s a mess and ugly at first, then she’s all beautiful at the end.”

Simply gorgeous 🥰
Gorgeous story, stunning and eye catching illustrations and a lovely message. Both me and my 8 year old daughter really loved it (even though she hates unicorns). 🥰

A fun read
This is a brightly coloured children's book that's great for unicorn lovers. It was a rhyming story and the pacing was really fast throughout. It has a strong positive message in this one, that kindness to others is always a good thing, and I think a lot of children will really enjoy this one.
