Great book for for folks who know nothing about flying and a great reminder for us who grew up around flying and airplanes
Know General Cook personally and served with him in the AIR GUARD. Brings back many memories and an inside look for those who are interested in the world of flying and what happens up there. Also recommend his book. "Once A Fighter Pilot" , a total different side of flying.

pilots need to read this
Before I give my openion I need to say that I did not buy this book, the author gave me a copy. He is a friend of more than 50 years and we flew togethen in the Air Force, Vietnam, Pan AM and the ANG. I consider Jerry to be the best pilot I ever flew with (Although I never flew with Chuck). I've seen him bring back battle dammaged F4s with pieces falling off and not have any problem in doing it. This book as well as his first book "Once a Fighter Pilot" should be a must read for any pilot. He is an excellent writer and has the ability to hold your interest and tell technical things that can be easily understood. Some people may think that there is some bragging in his stories but like grandpaw said "If you done it, it ain't bragging". Not only that but In over 50years I never knew Jerry to tell anything that was not true. He is one of the few people that if he said "The sky is falling" I would run for cover.Willy
