The doctor and the beast
This is 880 from Valliant and Danny's story. Dr Allison Baker is the new doctor and she falls in love with the unconscious species. Kidnapping and misunderstanding follow them as she succeeds in waking him up.This is a good story but it took its time to warm on me but I really enjoyed some of it, including Obsidian, the name chosen by 880 learning to deal with a very different life from before while coping with his previous mates death.

started great-but was spoiled so far through!!
this is the 8th book i have read in laurann dohner's new species series.for most of the book i thought it was a total winner, but over halfway through the book plummeted.POSSIBLE TEENY TINY SPOILERS-up to just over halfway/three quarter-ish into the book we see how obsidian came out of his coma, couldn't manage to fit in, the problems with the two being lovers and about the predicament doctor allison has been put in through her actions.this was all great stuff and quite emotive in places. the couple are then split up and then WHAM the reunion/ending.there were very few details as to what went on in their three month separation, but no where near enough.there was a total lack of resolution between the problems the couple faced and their happily-ever-after, which left me feeling as though the book was missing chapters!i was so disappointed.this could have been a really great installment, possibly one of the best, if the author hadn't missed so much out.i like to see how the characters i have spent time reading about overcome their struggles, not just merely to be told in a few short sentences that everything has been worked out and they can now have their HEA.the only reason i gave this book got a 3 star rating instead of lower is because of how great it was to start with.i liked the characters and learning more about the internal workings the new species had going on. it was moving in places, had hot sex and characters you just had to route for.its such a shame it got spoiled!i think fans of this series will still have to give it a go though, like i did.i still intend to read the next book, but the recent disappointments in some of these books will perhaps have me waiting until i can get a cheaper copy, rather than darting out and paying top price as soon as i can get my hands on a copy.series order:1. Fury (2011)2. Slade (2011)3. Valiant (2011)4. Justice (2011)5. Brawn (2011)6. Wrath (2012)7. Tiger (2012)8. Obsidian (2012)9. Shadow (2012)10. Moon (2013)

good but not great...
What i love about this book is we finally get to see a new species completely fresh, without the influence of the world and most of the time he is a complet bum-hole, he is moody, demanding and downright rude but you cannot help but fall in love with him. Obsidian does not know how to deal with a female, all he has ever known was his mate and she hated him and was in love with another male, as such he spent more time fighting with her and so he has no idea how to deal with Allison and there is a lot of misunderstandings and he beats up a lot of male's in fear they will try to steal his mate believeing they are the enemy.Allison steal Obsidian in the hopes of waking him from his coma and this stage of them in hiding does not last long as they are found quickly and the NSO is not happy with Allison and treat her unfairly as well as Obsidian, i believe this book covers a more darker side of the new species and how they are having to adjust, especially how they have that nasty shrink around who cause Allison and Obsidian's seperation, we see that there freedom does come with a price of being soemthing they are not forcing them to protend to be human. As such my only issue with this book is the ending, Allison and Obsidian are forced into a separation and in essence what happen with Obsidian and his mate happens all over again with Allison, if he was good his mate is returned to him if he is bad then she is taken away and yet this idea that the NSO leaders are doing the same things as their captures used to do is not looked into, this issue is not look at and that nasty shrink is still there. I feel all these unanswered questions and issue leave the ending a bit flat and a lot of hopes off realisation are pined on the next book.
