A little bit of Madagascar for anyone who reads
It's hard to put into words how much I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. As an aspiring female primatologist wanting to study lemurs, I feel like it covered all bases I was wanting to know more about. I relate deeply to the author's sense of compassion for people alongside her wonder for the natural world. I also feel like this is a great book to share with my partner and parents so I can give them an idea about Madagascar without them having to sift through much academic jargon. Anyone can read this and seriously get something out of it!

If you want an accurate description of what it is like to work in Madagascar, look no further
Dr. McGoogan’s book takes the reader to Madagascar in 2006. It conveys both the excitement and challenges surrounding fieldwork through the eyes of a young doctoral student. The book is charming but also presents some of the real hardships endured by both field researchers and the people with whom they work. I enjoyed it very much and look forward to reading more of Dr. McGoogan’s work.
