AVI-8Mens 42mm Hawker Hurricane Classic Chronograph Pilot Japanese Quartz Watch with Leather Strap AV-4011

I've had a Hawker Hurricane for several months now, and it's still one of my go-to watches. The cream dial looks very sharp, and the brightly colored details on the inner chronograph dials help to accentuate the retro aesthetic that the AVI-8 brand is after. It's a very elegant design, but it still stands out enough to land you a few compliments from onlookers. I was also impressed by how soft the leather band was out of the box, you won't have to 'break it in' much for it to feel comfortable.Now for the (slight) issues. The internals used in the HH are not from the 'top shelf' of quartz movements, so keen ears will notice a ticking sound from this watch. It's not as loud as a Timex Weekender, but you will notice it occasionally. Also, the chronograph function on mine has been a bit dodgy...it will run for about 15 minutes or so and then just stop. And when I press the reset button the top and bottom dials don't quite line up to the 12 o'clock position. This was not a huge concern for me though as I rarely need to use the chronograph function. So to sum up this is a very handsome timepiece with some shortcuts taken under the surface to keep things affordable. I was able to get mine right before the price jumped up from $125, so I am very pleased with this watch!

My only negative is the color in the picture of the watch band looks more green while in reality the band is an unattractive beige. Maybe the white balance needs adjusting. While it compliments the watch I would not have purchased the watch had the image shown this. Having said that, when I ordered the watch I also ordered a green with yellow stripe nato elastic strap for this watch. So I am still happy with this watch because I never planned to use the original strap and I love the simplicity of the items on the face. I love the colors of the face and the size is perfect on my large wrist.

Let me start by a simple statement of fact: I'm not a watch guy. I don't understand people that spend hundreds of dollars on watches and have a little box to display them. I'm a guy that has traditionally owned one watch and it has been plastic (I know, classy af). SO while going through a nasty breakup one of my buddies spouted that well regarded piece of wisdom we all hear after getting our heart broken: "Treat yo self". He told me to buy something for myself I would never buy and him being one of those previously mentioned watch guys told me to buy a nice watch. After some searching and hunting I found this. Loved it. Bought it. Now its been a few years and I can say without a doubt this watch is awesome. Perfect for work, weddings or a day at the pub, this guy has that versatile bit of class that everyone wants in an expensive bit of fashion. Its durable and is still kicking after regular wear and tear. I'm still not a watch guy but I would buy another one of these.

Very nice quality watch. I was (and am) impressed by it every time I put it on. It has a very cool look to it. The leather band is soft and supple. The chrono works great and has a nice spin on the micro seconds.The only down side to this watch is that it only registers to 1 hour on the chrono.

Comes in a nice box and the mechanisms have a nice solid click to them. All delicate surfaces comes fully protected in peel plastic. Nice piece!

I bought this for my husband for Christmas and originally had a couple issues getting one that worked right, which is why I docked off a star. The first one we got looked used, it had smudges and scratches on the back side of the watch. The second one didn't work at all. We thought about just going to see if a new battery would fix it, but after a pretty steep price we figured we'd just send it in for anot her replacement just in case it was faulty. We we're losing faith that it would work out but thankfully the third watch was flawless. It works perfect and there wasn't a scratch or mark on it. It's the perfect size for his wrist and looks casual but fancy at the same time. He loves the aviation details and is finally happy with his present!

Really like the look and feel of this watch. Right size, not too bulky, classic looks, seems well made for the $. If you are an aviation/watch fan, this is a good looking, affordable, stylish piece. Green dial with charcoal metal finish,very nice combo. Nice leather band.

I've only had the watch for a few weeks but I am quite pleased with it. Excellent finish and a resultant quality look. Good size, not huge but fashionably large. The 'retro' look is carried off well, good colours and styling. The band matches and enhances the look. Accuracy seems good and it's very easy to read. Exactly as I hoped from the ad. I have a lot of watches and this one is great with casual trendy clothing.

An interesting timepiece, I would have loved it to have a steel bracelet as opposed to leather, the luminescence is poor quality which seriously detracts from the other aspects of what is a beautiful wristwatch. Overall reminiscent of the Hurricane, it's self, not perfect but still never the less although mostly made from wood stood to to to with all metal and faster fighters. I am proud to own this watch

Arrived promptly and on time. Exactly as described, looks good and stylish on the wrist.

Can't do much wrong with a watch having a white dial, silver housing, and brown leather strap, together with the personal preference of loving aviation. Especially for that price. Beautifully made.
