Reader's Digest Easy Way to Play 100 Unforgettable Hits (Reader's Digest Publications)

I just ordered this book but only today my piano teacher handed me her Easy Way To Play and after a brief lesson I was hooked. I had to have one for myself. Somehow, I knew all the tunes. I am 60+ years old and I have heard theses tunes all my life. The presentation is WOW! I love the art work, the organization, the easy way the tunes are set up. It is written in user friendly format and my teacher said that it is arranged in a super easy way so I would have no trouble with any song even a Cole Porter tune. I will use my teacher's book until mine arrives. I think this book will be on my piano stand forever! Thanks Readers Digest Books!

Filled with a great variety of music and the arrangements are very well written.

This is a awesome piano book for a super price. Strongly recommended!!!! I like it because it is large and it has numbers below the regular notes, as well as the lyrics. There are some nice songs in it and you will be able to play these in a flash. I can read music, but even someone who can't read notes will have fun with this book. Some of the 100 Songs you will get are: Amazing Grace, America the Beautiful, Adult Lang Syne, Battle Hym of the Republic, Good Bless America, Greensleeve, Tennessee Waltz, Danny Boy, Days of Wine and Roses, Alexander Ragtime Band, All of Me, Dancing in the Dark, Dream a little Dream of Me, Smoke Gets in your Eyes, Lover come back to Me, This Land is your Land, etc...This is probably one of the best, if not the best Books I own and I hope the listed above will be helpful to you, to make your decision, if you will purchase it or not.

I have the same book of music in a much older edition,, but I wanted to get another as a gift. The songs are presented in an easy-to-play format, and the book opens flat readily. This is a hardcover, so it is more durable. I would have given it 5 stars except that the printed musical selections appear to be a little lighter than my old one. Not quite as dark a shade but, overall, a very good collection for the cost.

This book is a gold mine, a treasure trove of great standard hits. Being a "Reader's Digest" book, it naturally offers some information about the background of each song. The volume is versatile because pianists as well as guitarists and perhaps other kinds of musicians can learn and share melodies from "Shine On, Harvest Moon," "Let Me Call You Sweetheart," "My Blue Heaven," "Side by Side," "Alexander's Ragtime Band," and "Don't Fence Me In" to "For Me and My Gal" to "I Found a Million-Dollar Baby." There is even a small section of inspirational / religious numbers such as "Amazing Grace" and "Rock of Ages," plus The Birthday Song. Intermediate and even perhaps beginning musicians can play the melody line and use the chords that are provided. The only way I would tweak the selections is that I would add the haunting piano descant in "I Left My Heart in San Francisco," which musicians can learn by ear and insert. If I had to give up all my music books but one, this is the one I would keep.

I'm one of those persons who played piano when young and then dropped it as an adult. This music is written so simply that I can sit down and sight read it and yet the simple accompaniment has a sophisticated sound. I love to play and sing and I love these old standards by Gershwin, Porter, Kern, and others.

This is the best book ever! My sister-in-law had a copy of one that she found in an old piano bench when she purchased a piano at an estate sale. I fell in love with the book because it shows how to play by numbers! And there's number stickers to put on my keyboard! (also the letter notes) At my age, I don't want to learn how to read music but I want to play so...this makes it possible, and it's great practice for my mind, reading the numbers and playing along, and creating music that people can actually recognize! The book came in perfect shape, and was extremely clean. The sellers are to be commended! I would buy any book from them again. Thank-you so much!

This is an excellent book, songs are quite easy to play, yet still sound very good! I really like it, the best of all the Readers Digest Piano books. A great assortment of songs. It may be too easy for an advance player, but for beginner who can read music, or intermediate, just right. Love the spiral back too, so it lays open nicely. They should all be like that!

Wonderful book, beautiful music that is easy to play. I love it. Readers' Digest published a large selection of piano/voice/guitar books which are coil bound, so handy when playing piano or guitar.

Item arrived in the time advertised, well wrapped and in good condition. I like the quality of the book. There are plenty of good songs in this book. I only wish there was a bit more depth to the left hand performance and a little more filler in the long notes on the melody. This is very much a book for beginners or people like me who have lost some of their skills over the busy working years and want to play again now that they have more free time..
