Awesome characters and a worthwhile romance.
You know how some series just make you sigh in absolute contentment every time you crack one of the books open? That's so Christmas, Colorado for me. Mason always makes me smile and touches my heart in the most unexpected and wonderful ways. And her heroines? Totally kick ass and awesome! The quick of it is that Jill has had a thing for her brother's best friend for practically ever. And recently she's made a dream board of all the things she wants in life. The house on a lake, becoming sheriff, and finally snagging the man who's had her heart for so many years. She's just gotta get him to snap to it and pay attention to what's right in front of his face. Mmhm! So. 5 Things about Happy Ever After in Christmas...Jill and Sawyer were both amazing characters. She's got the whole badass cop thing happening and is a little edgy and fierce with a hard outer shell. And Sawyer is laid back with a little cocky happening and one seriously soft underbelly. They were something! They're just good people that cared greatly for those around them. I loved who they were and that they both had some things happening that you wouldn't know from just looking at the surface.Heat-wise there's lots of yummy tension but all the naughty is off page. I usually prefer a bit more heat but Mason manages to keep me from missing it. Amazing!Their romances is bumpy. They had a lot of little road blocks from her brother not approving to skanky home-wrecking barmaids to unexpected surprises and losses along the way. There was some funny and some sweet but also some really hard things to get past. It made my heart hurt for them and made me want to shake them both on occasion when they wee just being stubborn and shutting each other out.Time on the job! I love when you actually get to see characters doing what they do. It really makes them come alive and seeing how passionate they were about what they did--especially Jill--was pretty awesome. I loved her on the job. Seriously. She's kick ass. She says it like it is and gets things done. It was fun seeing her go through some sensitivity training with the old folks home and bonding with them, seeing her work on a case and deal with some danger happening. The town--It's something, these people. They'd drive you crazy with their small town nosy gossipy ways but at the same time life wouldn't be nearly as amazing without them. They can really come together and are just so dang special. All in all, Mason continues to delight. I just love Christmas, Colorado and the people who call it home. They've made a place in my heart and aren't letting go any time soon. Jill and Sawyer, well, they were just a lovely addition and everything I could have asked for.

thoughts on happy ever after in christmas
Received in exchange for a honest review.Loved this. the story of Sawyer and Jill is fun light hearted and sweet. I didn’t like how Jill’s brother treated Sawyer and the double standard he had on who was okay to date Jill.Sawyer was a player. A former hockey player who enjoyed life and was easy going. He thought that he enjoyed the serial dating idea until his best friend went MIA and than he realized he wanted to settle down. But who he wanted was off limits. He wanted Jill. He didn’t realize it right away. I think because he was afraid to lose his friendship with her brother. But he did. Sawyer wasn’t a bad guy quite the opposite in fact. He just had a reputation with the ladies. A reputation he perpetuated even though it wasn’t true.Sawyer though did want Jill. He found her to be fun sweet, passionate, caring loyal and spunky. And she was. She was all that and more. She had dreams and ones that were attainable but she needed to tone down her enthusiasm and stark way of stating things. She was a deputy that was rough around the edges in her people skilled. Those that knew her knew her heart was big and she was a diamond in the rough. those that didn’t well she came off gruff. this had her in trouble a bit of the time and having to work at the nursing home to work on her people skills. The same nursing home that Sawyer’s old coach was at so he got to see her there and tease her. They were close but Sawyer was afraid to act due to the fear of losing her brother as a friend. When they are brought together to babysit we see more to Sawyer and their relationship. We see more of what a great and standup guy he was. When their godson was missing he was strong and lent his shoulder o Jill. Jill was to hard on herself. This though brought these two to a night that neither forgot. Jill however did have a jealous streak and this didn’t help the relationship. neither did Sawyer’s fear of losing his friend. So they didn’t act on their feelings after one night although they wanted to. Jill with her insecurities did think that Sawyer was wanting someone else no matter what Sawyer said. He was protective of people and helped when he could and this included the manager of his bar who wanted him. he didn’t think anything of it but it affected Jill and their relationship. When it comes out their night together gave them more than either anticipated, Sawyer didn’t blame Jill for her forgetfulness but was excited and understanding. When her brother was a jackass to him, Sawyer took it and said nothing. He stood by Jill and showed her love and understanding. He cared for her in so many ways. Watching him drop off gifts and take care of her was so sweet to see. He loved her with all that he was. He respected her and supported her goals to. It ticked me off when she pushed him away and treated him like dirt. No matter what though he held out hope but he almost lost it. So sad and Jill would have deserved it to. good thing someone talked some sense into her before it was too late. The chemistry and banter between Jill and Sawyer sparked from the beginning. They sizzled when in proximity of one another and ribbed each other good naturedly. Watching Sawyer and seeing what a sweet guy he was made it hard to watch Jill push him the wrong way. It was heartbreaking. When he did it first out of fear it was understandable but when she did it it was frustrating. Heck he was a very upfront and honest guy so for her to not trust him was just wrong. Glad they worked through it though.the story was sweet and fun. We got good natured ribbing, a young lady who was rough around the edges and softened by love, a man who wanted more and was afraid to lose all he had in terms of friendship and loyalty. We have two kind, caring and loyal people afraid to be together who loved each other overcome alot to be together. This is the fun entertaining light hearted emotionally driven story of sawyer and Jill and how they fall in love and come together.
