Good performances; perhaps too lenient in treatment
Good performances. Much too lenient in depiction of both husband and wife. Despite her so called tolerance of gays, not enough shown of the harm done to the poor and marginalized the couple used and robbed.

Praise the lord, this is a good movie!
Jessica Chastain is unrecognizable in this role and is scary good at morphing into Tammy Faye with all of her distinct idiosyncrasies from her voice to her laugh to her clothes. Andrew is pretty good at playing Jim Baker but is a little outshined by Jessica. There is a lot of visual nostalgia from the eighties which if you are from that period you might enjoy. This was a little difficult to watch because I had some experience with visiting PTL (Heritage USA) back in the eighties when i was a young teenager. It was a magical place with a dark underside. On the surface it is a Disney Land for Christians and a place of love and worship. It was a remarkable destination for families to come and enjoy both church and a whole host of theme park activities which were really appreciated by the kids. If you scratch beneath the surface there is a dark side of sex, corruption, lies, deceit and the worship of power. This movie shows the not so glamorous side to getting everything that you think you want, but the eventual loss of your soul in the process.

TAMMY'S LIFE CONTINUES
The movie did not show the real Tammy. The one who worked day & night with the morning show & her own show. Her sense of humor was great & cooking shows were hilarious. But her music - oh her music. No one has sung like Tammy Faye or ever will. There are many gospel singers & concerts today. No one mentioned the earrings down to the shoulder, the heavy make up, the overweight singers in these concerts & on stage. I won't mention by name but just check out current gospel singers. Only Tammy Faye has been criticized. And could it be because they are jealous of her.?Not many people have influence after death but Tammy faye does & the movie did not mention how people are still coming to Jesus because of Tammy Faye's music ; how many people did NOT commit suicide because of her songs. Nor did the movie mention her work with women in prisonTammy Faye's light still shines here on earth - maybe no movie could show the love in her heart, the light in her eyes & the joy she had for Jesus. Listen to "Face to Face" on YouTube & you will know Tammy Faye.
