Volcanoes! Mountains of Fire (Step-Into-Reading, Step 4)

Who doesn't love volcanos?
She loved learning about these. I wouldn't say it's something she re-reads a lot though. Good for a 7 year old none-the-less.

Should be called Mt. St. Helen, not Volcanoes
Great book- however be warned, very little information about actual volcanoes (which is what I personally was hoping for) but very descriptive firsthand or narrative accounts of the Mount St Helens eruption of 1980. Therefore, this book, in my opinion, should be entitled Mount St Helens Eruption, since this is the vast majority of the content. Three or four pages only, describing what volcanoes actually are and where they are found, etc. However, I must say, my 6 and a half year old daughter loves the book, so my opinion might not be important; but until she can go on here and express herself you're stuck with it...

The best by far
No idea how many of these books we have, maybe 30 or 40. They are brilliant, we've used them since my son was two, with the toy story one, super heroes, tangled... The pictures are exactly as the movies and the stories are just right, not too complex, not boring. The more advanced are also fantastic, Lascaux, Trojan horse, the early American heritage stuff. This is the only series that I've found graduates from level to level consistently and realistically. Buy as many as you can and start them early, nothing comes close in kids reading... No I don't work for the company!

I love the whole Step into Reading series
I love the whole Step into Reading series. The information is excellent and they are entertaining. The lower levels are long enough that a beginning reader gets a challenge but isn't overwhelmed with length. Level 4 is good for a confident reader, even if they still struggle with sounding words out. Reading comprehension really begins to get exercised at this level.

Beware--the content is likely to trouble children
The contents of this book are very likely to distress children. The focus is on families in danger--both current and back in the days of Pompeii. I bought it for a child who's interested in the geological science of volcanoes and got a tragic series of soap operas instead. Nightmares, anyone?

Belle immagini e storia interessante. Attraverso la storia di Mount St Helens vengono date informazioni sui vulcani, senza che sia troppo didattico. Al mio bimbo di 4 anni (bilingue) รจ piaciuto.

Volcanoes in English
It arrived on time. It's a very useful material for those of us who teach English, teachers of Clil for Geography and Science as well as students who want to improve their use of English.

Weirdly grim but informative
Focuses more on the impact of volcanos than the science of them
