Good information about Hungarian Revolution 1956 and the colorful art work of the different groups of units that where in the Hungarian Revolution.

A bit too hung up on technical details, but a good overview of the events.

In 1956 the Hungarian people rose up and decided that they wanted change. They didn't know what kind of change, but they decided it was time to get rid of the Communist Party which had been put in charge of them by the Soviets at the end of WWII. This book looks at the uprising which looked like it might just succeed.The book includes excellent photos from a variety of sources as well as several color artist plates showing the uniforms worn by both sides. Maps and diagrams make this a valuable addition to any military history collection. The narrative is short (as they all are in this series) but concise. This made reading the book very ebjoyable.

Yet another event many people know little of. Osprey provides a look at the events and the fighters who sought to free their nation. Like most Ospreys, it won't cover every detail, but it's a good start.

Like all Osprey offerings it is a essential source for any history interested reader and writer and I am in both groups.

Superior in all ways. Read it.I did before and during a visit to Budapest in April2015.

One of the best Osprey books i have found so far, the book is written on one of the less well know revolutions in a country so often forgotten about during the cold war, this Elite book offers incredible background information and historical accuracy which really makes the reader understand why the Hungarian revolutionaries risked so much against all the odds.In the colored plates in the center of the book,are superbly drawn and show off the uniforms and weapons that was used by both sides another thing worth noting is the extensive collection of photographs taken during the revolution that are included in the book that really show the historical accuracy of the illustrations in the plates.I would defiantly recommend picking this book up if you are the slightest bit interested in the cold war or soviet action the the Eastern bloc.

I loved this book. It has great pictures and details of the days before the revolution and after, wonderful details of the main revolutionaries and the Soviets reactions. I was left needing more details so I had to research from other books as well. It needs double the amount of facts and pages but it was still rich in the details it contained.Thanks to the author for the much needed research into the Hungarian Revolution.

Das Ospreyheft ist ganz gut gelungen. Es werden die Ausgangssituation, die Kämpfe und die russsichen Maßnahmen gut geschildert. Die Karten sind hilfreich, die Zeichnungen ganz nett.Wer noch nichts Näheres über den Aufstand von 1956 in Ungarn weiß und sich einmal grob informieren will ist mit dem Heft absolut gut beraten. Für nähere Informationen gibt es aber inzwischen gute Fachliteratur.
