Double vinyl LP pressing. Fallen Empires is the sixth studio album by Northern Irish-Scottish rock band Snow Patrol. The album was released on 11 November 2011. The album became the first to feature future member Johnny McDaid, who was credited as guest musician and songwriter in the album liner notes, and would officially join the band following the tour. It is also the last album to feature keyboardist Tom Simpson, who would later depart the band in 2013. American singer Lissie provided additional vocals for six songs on the album ("I'll Never Let Go", "The Weight of Love", "The Garden Rules", "Fallen Empires", "Berlin", and "Those Distant Bells").

Great album, delivery not so good
This album deserves 5 stars. I love it.However, I've knocked a star off because the package was completely bent on one corner when it arrived, obviously meaning that the album cover was also bent.I've held off reviewing as I wanted to give the album a really good listen and can now safely say that the album itself plays perfectly. It's just disappointing that the album cover was damaged.Has certainly made me rethink ordering vinyl online, particularly it I can "click and collect" with other retailers meaning I can address any quality issues in store before taking delivery. 🙄

SNOW BUSINESS
So there i was sitting contemplating, should i have smooth or crunchy peanut butter on my toast, when a butterfly fluttered into view, and i thought to myself "Well thats it then"and i took my tasty morsel into the living room and sat down to consume the afformentioned toast.Snow patrols album is a morning album,it will ease you into the day, full of anthems, they are straining to lose their U2 pretentions and move onto more personal soundsThis is a beautfully packaged CD which perfectly reflects the music inside. The tracks that impress are"The garden rules""Fallen empires" with its thumping beat, and icy harmonies,in some ways reminiscent of talking heads."Berlin" is a cheery sing-a-long type of song,"Lifening"is an elbowesque song about life and the world cup."New York" is poignant and yet rousingThere are inevitably comparissons to Coldplay, but Snow patrol are better than that, and Gary Lightbody has a great voice.Snow Patrol are:GARY LIGHTBODYNATHAN CONNOLLYJONNY QUINNPAUL WILSONTOM SIMPSONCD 57.16The accompanying DVD is of their concert at the Royal Albert HallDVD 67.51
