Science in Sport SiS Go Isotonic Energy Gel Variety -3 x Pack of 7 x 60ml by Science In Sports

I had a terrible experience with SIS Go Isotonic Gel. As an experienced user of a variety of types of sports gels, I decided to try the SIS gel because I had heard it was easier to consume (less viscous) than other gels. I ordered the variety pack to sample the various flavors so I could decide which flavors to use on my upcoming marathon race day and, secondly, because the shipping time was. I ordered three boxes because the shipping time was lengthy and I wanted to ensure I would have a supply for race day. I will describe both the gels and my experience with the seller when I attempted to return the unused packs for a refund.On my first run, I consumed the pineapple flavor, which was mildly sweet and tasted somewhat like pineapple. I didn't hate it, but I didn't like it as much as other gel brands I've tried. It was easier to consume quickly because it was a thinner viscosity, however, it also flowed out of the packet while I was holding it and finishing it. During the last mile of my run, however, I felt stomach cramps come on and struggled to finish the workout. Figuring that was a fluke, I again used the gels three days later on a longer 16 mile run. I first consumed the black currant flavor (terrible!), then the tropical punch (only mildly better). Again, my stomach cramped up after ingesting the gel and I again struggled to finish. Upon arriving home, I experienced a wave of nausea that took about 40 minutes to pass.I then called Amazon and attempted to return the unused, unopened boxes and get a refund for all boxes due to my awful experience. She told me she would contact the seller to inquire about a refund, as it was not possible to return food products. The seller replied to me by sending me a disclaimer, part of which stated that I should have checked with a doctor before consuming the gel! (Why would I do that if I've changed brands before without issue?!). My refund request was denied and I am not happy! As any endurance athlete knows, one has to train with the same nutrition/hydration products as one will use on race day. Because my race date was not far off and the shipping time was so lengthy, I chose to order three boxes instead of one to ensure I would have the flavors I chose to use on race day. I would advise all of my runner friends to avoid this product and would not advise anyone to purchase a food product for the first time via Amazon, especially from outside sellers on the site who can deny refunds. Buyer beware!

The media could not be loaded. Twice these SiS gels have leaked in my jersey during two different ultra endurance races. SiS claims that their gels are pressure tested, apparently they haven’t been testing in awhile. It just takes a relatively light squeeze for the gel to leak out from the corner where the package crimp ends.I wouldn’t be writing this, except that I was transporting the gels and nearly all of them leaked plus SiS decided to NOT warranty their defective product resulting in me loosing over $40 in gels.
