8 Key Mini Kalimba Thumb Piano Set

I really really wanted to like this. But it is way too small. I was sadly disappointed in this product. Bought 3 as gifts, and they were out of tune and so quiet you could hardly hear what you are playing. Not to mention that there is no music sheets or books available for the 8 key, there is for 10 and up but not the 8.....so unless your a Mistro and super gifted with music, I would not recommend!

I bought this for my 18yo nephew, and the first night, he stayed up teaching himself to play My Way on it. My 21yo nephew thought it was cool and wanted one too, so. Sent him one. The 18yo taught the 21 yo to play My Way. My sister tried to catch the concert on video, but they were having none of it.

It’s small and portable, and overall pretty nice. If you don’t want to bring your regular kalimba out to play but feel the urge to, this one is perfect. Plus it’s quieter than a regular kalimba so you won’t be the center of attention when you play.Plus it could be a good starter one for kids. The sound is sweet, and like I said earlier it’s not as loud as a normal one. Over all, pretty good!

Without an echo chamber you'll have trouble hearing the notes. They're too soft. You'll also need to hold it in an awkward way in your hands for the notes to resonate properly. If you're intending this for a person who loves music or a beginner, please spend the extra cash on a 17 note Kalimba with an echo chamber. This mini Kalimba is more ornamental than anything.

This is a very small instrument, make no mistake, but it played nicely. I bought it for my 4 year old granddaughter and she loved it. I did not buy any music books with it, as this was just designed to get her used to the tones it makes, so I am not sure exactly how easy it is to 'learn', but I gave it high marks on that because I couldn't see why it wouldn't be easy to learn how to play in a more formal manner.
