A memorable thriller with a clever plotline!
Newlyweds Sam and Annie moved back to Sam's hometown to be closer to his dementia afflicted mother. When an opportunity of a lifetime arises, Sam opens a private practice as the town's psychologist. Sam listens to his client's secrets regularly, even while poorly managing his personal coverings. Still, what Sam doesn't know is that someone else is eavesdropping in on his sessions. One day, Sam goes to work and never makes it home to Annie. Were his secrets too hard to deal with, leaving him to disappear, or is there something ominous prowling behind closed doors?GOODNIGHT BEAUTIFUL is a brilliantly crafted thriller with a cleverish and enticing plotline. Written in three parts, Aimee Molloy has a knack for playing with her audience while leading me into a tangled maze of surprises. Each piece ended with a bombshell, willing you to keep going for answers! In addition to her high-grade content consistency, Aimee also presented a complete set of characters who propelled you to see them from different perspectives. As much as I admired Sam and Annie's marriage, these two personalities were quite complex. Sam came off likable, even when he didn't make the best decisions. Simultaneously, Annie was more of a hard nut to crack, yet still showed an impressive stance in strength. As much as I want to talk your ear off about this thriller, I have to stay clear of any spoilers discreetly. As a whole, GOODNIGHT BEAUTIFUL fascinated my thriller loving heart. Aimee beautifully weaved in and out of the novel's various sectors and still maintained the suspenseful flow throughout. I highly recommend this novel if you're seeking a memorable story with a copious amount of "what in the beep" moments. I will be adding Aimee to my auto-buy author list after reading this masterful piece of work!

Quick read, Great Thriller/mystery
Annie and Sam are newlyweds that recently moved from New York City to Sam’s hometown upstate. Sam starts his own private practice as a therapist helping many female patients with their own crisis. He’s know as a heartbreaker back home, and Annie starts to feel his absence as he works long hours to help his patients until one night Sam doesn’t return home at all. Did the inevitable happen? This book would have gotten 5 stars but the writing style left me a bit confused especially in the beginning. I cannot fault the author though since it came to be a part of the mystery of the story. I really enjoyed the story of Sam and Annie and their relationship and wanted to cheer them on. Such a cute couple! The twists and turns start within the first few pages but towards the end I found it a little predictable as she reached the conclusion. It also ended very abruptly but that seems to be a pattern in most thriller/mystery books I’ve read recently.I would 100% recommend this to a friend, especially if you enjoy a good thriller. It was a simple, quick read but hard to put down!

Confusing
“‘Honest to god, you’re a walking Nicholas Sparks novel’”- Goodnight Beautiful "Goodnight Beautiful" by Aimee Molloy is a psychological thriller that follows the lives of newlyweds Sam and Annie. They move to Sam's hometown in upstate New York, where Sam plans to open a psychology practice. However, as Sam's sessions with his patients are conducted in their home, secrets begin to unravel."Goodnight Beautiful" by Aimee Molloy falls short of its potential as a thriller. While the premise shows promise, the execution leaves much to be desired. The story attempts to create a web of intrigue but often feels convoluted, with too many red herrings that can leave readers frustrated. One of the book's shortcomings is its character development, which falls flat in places. Some of the characters lack depth, making it difficult to empathize or connect with their motivations. This can hinder the overall engagement with the story.Additionally, the pacing can be inconsistent, with moments of slow buildup followed by rushed revelations. This uneven tempo affects the story's ability to maintain a consistent level of suspense.Furthermore, the ending may leave readers dissatisfied, as it doesn't fully deliver on the promise of the earlier narrative. It leaves certain plot threads unresolved and may leave readers wanting more closure. In summary, "Goodnight Beautiful" has an intriguing premise but struggles with execution, character development, pacing, and the resolution of its plot. While it may appeal to some thriller enthusiasts, it may leave others wanting a more satisfying reading experience, thus the 3 star rating.

Excellent book
I loved the twists. It kept me on my toes up until the end. I read it in technically two sittings but we will call it one because it was only split by the fact that I fell asleep mid page. Highly recommend.

3-1/2 stars -- Clever, but ...
By page 6 of “Goodnight Beautiful,” one of the characters makes a snarky comment about the thriller she’s reading. I’ll let you find out whether her comments fit this book. But it’s clear that author Aimee Molloy is very familiar with the trend in twisty thrillers over the past several years – probably a good idea if you’re going to write one. Still, she kept me wondering whether, at this point, it’s possible for a writer to be TOO aware of the genre, leading to a trap of one-upmanship. How can my book come up with a NEW twist, a fresh way to catch the reader off guard? This book did fool me more than once. But it felt as if I was in a contest with the writer to anticipate the next curveball, rather than reading a story. While “Goodnight Beautiful” kept me engaged and involved, it had less to do with the story than its techniques, tricks and misdirection. The characters didn’t feel three-dimensional, despite all the psychological theories presented. Okay, the protagonist IS a psychologist, but exploring the characters’ deep inner motivations didn’t make me feel for them. They were more like pieces of an entertaining puzzle.“Goodnight Beautiful” is a fast, fun read, worth 3-1/2 stars. But it left me feeling that a book can be TOO self-aware … and that maybe this genre is due for a rest.

Great fun!
I loved the way this book riffed off from "Misery." The characters were quite entertaining and the way the point of view kept changing, I really had to be on my toes. It was a bit confusing the first time, but well worth it. This book was fun from start to finish.

Well written but weak storyline & not a very compelling plot
Basis some of the reviews about it being a page turner with twists every now and then, went forward with the book. However, did not find it as interesting as anticipated. The plot became quite clear midway where the major and the only twist revealed the whole storyline . The book went downhill from that point with no surprises in the second half .

Good!
Great book for the psychological/ thriller reader. Some great twists and a nod to “misery” (Stephen king fan) which I enjoyed. 4/5 stars for me!!

Entertaining enough
This was okay, I feel like the “twist” was not that amazing as it was contrived through deception of the reader.
