excellent visuals , keyboard is easy to navigate, big screen, stays very cool . it isn't very light , but worth it

Has worked well except for the battery
Had to replace the battery as soon as I got it, as the battery life was only just over 4 hrs, not the "near 10" I was promised.

Shipped across the pacific without a hitch
I took the opportunity to save a few hundred dollars buying from the States and importing to New Zealand, dispite having to pay NZ GST tax and courier fees on top, it was still a bargain and only took 3 weeks to arrive! It's the first time I've owned a chromebook and it has turned out to be perfect for what I wanted it for, a net browser, and media player to be used like a modern 17inch portable TV around the house. But with its ability to run Android apps it is so much more. It effectively replaces a PC at 1/4 the price, and has a better screen. There will still be a small number of things I will still need a PC for, but for day to day stuff it's perfect.

Shuts down by itself and won't start up
I liked the chromebook a lot until after 45 days of use it started to shut down by itself, i.e. screen locked up once (restarted after closing top and letting it sit a while) and 2nd time (2 weeks later) it went black and stays dead even though charged. Cannot access battery to remove and replace. Have gone through troubleshooting for power, wifi source, etc and cannot find any cause for this issue. Update: after sitting off for a day, the chromebook now works fine i.e. started up as normal. I read that the lithium batteries in some models can "grow whiskers" internally if discharged too far, battery will automatically turn off i.e. not allow charging, to avoid overheating and even fires. Am wondering if this is what's going on with my chromebook.

I love the "instant on"
I bought this for watching movies and surfing the web, and this Chromebook is PERFECT! The screen is HUGE, the battery life is excellent, and I love the fact that the Chromebook does not need to boot up. Just open the screen and this baby is ready to go!
