Good for party goodie bags
This box set included 12 boxes of superthings rivals of kaboom. There are 6 different styles and 2 colour theme, this makes up the 12 boxes. Each box have individual packing with 1 vehicle and 1 superthing. The target age is 4-8 but I found kids up to 10 will still love it.The beauty of this kind of blind box is that you never know which superthing and vehicle you are going to have until you unbox it. I find it amazing is that you can keep a brunch of kids quiet for a while when you let them have one each after a party. This makes them happy and full of fun. I find it a good suggestion as part of a goodie bag for kids's party.

Some fun ideas, but underwhelming and overpriced
As a boring grown-up I tried to get my kids to explain to me what the narrative behind this was. There must be a film, a TV series, a story, or at least a theme I assumed. But no, it seems the toy themselves are the origin story, and who knows, maybe if they are a big commercial success, the film will follow on after. For that to happen though, I think there’s one inherent problem that overrides any others- the price, if selling them as individual items (as per the pricing shown on the back of the box). At three quid for each toy, these aren’t quick pocket-money items. Arguably they are better value than a four quid pack of Pokemon cards, but at least with the cards you get ten chances to get something exciting, but here, there’s just the one. If it’s something disappointing, or something you’ve already got, then that’s it, game over, three quid wasted. And the size and quality of the plastic inside, frankly, does feel more like a one-quid item rather than a three-quid item. There are items in pound shops that feel as substantial, or even more so, than what’s contained in this back. The Kazoom jet might be bigger than the base item but I’d still stand by that statement that it’s pretty underwhelming for what’s in the box.Of course, this is a comprehensive set that promises all the different kids in one box, which takes away the gambling aspect of buying them individually. But I would still question the value of them for sure, especially as, at time of writing, this package contains 12 boxes that would be 3 quid each if sold individually, but the bulk price is… 36 quid. There’s no bulk buy discount whatsoever, which seems insane. Each kazoom jet has one playable aspect to it, but each one is a one-trick pony and the novelty wears off rather too quickly- and that’s my kids talking, not just a boring grown-up opinion. The idea of everyday objects turning into superheroes or supervillians is a fun one and if there were a story or narrative around it, I’m sure it could be a lot of fun. It’s an idea that would probably make a good novel for older primary school kids, for example. Without the pointers though you’re relying on a kids’ imagination to fill in some fairly large gaps, with what the superpowers could be. That’s been hit-and-miss in our household- there have been some good ideas floating about, but also a few blank looks and questions about “what is that supposed to do?”I’m aware how much of a grumpy, ripped-off parent this review has made me sound like, but I’m afraid I’m unconvinced that Superthings is going to be the next big trend sweeping across the nation’s schools and homes.

Complete set of all 12 vehicles (6 designs in 2 colour ways)
My older nephews are outside the suggested age range for these (4-8), but at 9 and 11 and having grown up with Superzings (now Superthings) and Zomblings are still fans of these little, rubbery collectables so I was pleased to see them offered. At time of writing these are selling at £36 for 12 – the exact expected price to be gained by selling these individually (the retail display box these come in has unit pricing of £3 advertised on the side). To me, this seems quite high: you might reasonably expect at least a small discount for buying the collection in bulk in a retail display from a big retailer like Amazon. If you have kids who are trying to collect the whole set, even without any discount, there is an advantage to buying a whole box (perhaps with the intention of giving them out one at a time) in that this box definitely contains the whole set of 12 vehicles: 6 different versions, each in two colour ways. You still get the surprise unboxing experience, but there is no duplication. This big box does represent a significant upfront investment versus buying sets individually but allows the whole collection to be obtained for the lowest possible price. My nephews like Superthings, but aren’t such die-hard fans that they need the whole collection – so when the boys unboxed these, they split them so that they each had one version of each vehicle. These come in little boxes with no plastic packaging inside a retail display carton – though the jets themselves are plastic and not the most environmentally friendly.
