High frequency snap to die for
Pair this Controlled Sound Coated Remo Snare Head with a Hazy Remo Head snare snide and you can tune in an incredibly wide range of frequencies that all sound pretty much excellent in their own regard. You can get that low decayed rumble with the snares loose right up to precision snap-funk when the skin are cranked up. You can tune any head, I know, but these sound GOOOOD no matter where you tune them. Having tried this on an auxillary snare it soon became main snare because I just couldn't get the same aesthetic on a number of other heads, many of which were REMO branded themselves. Whack it on anything from a Mapex Armoury to a Slingerland Radio King and you'll never look back. Incredibly good value for money. I bought another for reserve almost immediately. Five stars.

Focused sound.
Easy to fit and tune. The central coated control sound area certainly gives a pleasing sound. I'm using it on a Pearl steel snare. It helps reduce the "ringing".Not so sure about durability. After one rehearsal session of 3 hours, the centre was certainly showing signs of wear and I'm not a heavy hitter. But overall, pleased with it.** One year on and I'm still using and loving it. It's had a few gigs and rehearsals as well as practice sessions and has kept it tuning well. And its wearing well too**

Durable and musical
The Remo Coated CS Dot is my go to head when I want a little more focus and durability. I find they work great on metal shelled snare drums, this head went on a 14x6.5 Gretsch USA Bronze which is a bit of a beast, and it tunes up or down easily. Still a little ringy but I like that and can be easily tamed with some dampening if needed. These heads last a while too, highly recommended if you something durable but not dead.

My new favourite snare head
Having been an Evans user for years I thought I'd try a Remo Controlled sound for one of my metal snares as I'd read some good reviews.I've now done two gigs with it and it's living up to the good reviews. Lovely tuned slightly higher than I'd usually go, but that's where it comes alive on my snare.Maybe I should try Remo across the rest of my kit?

The best
This is my favourite snare drum batter, it’s the ideal weight for me, Ambassador’s are a bit light weight and lacking in power and anything heavier (double ply Emperor etc) are too dull and rob the character too much. The CS still resonates and gets the best of the drum.
