Is the back pocket in the bag supposed to open?

Hi, the back pocket has zipper, you could close it.

The back pocket is with zipper, not velcro, right? I like zipper better.

This beach please bag has a very large back pocket, it is with zipper closure.

Love this bag, just one question, is the hanle long enough to wear on shoulder?

No problem to wear on shoulder.

Is this bag sturdy? It won't tear at the seams in a couple of months will it?

I don't use it as an everyday bag. But used it a lot over the summer to go to the beach. I feel it is sturdy & good quality.
