McCormick Whole Caraway Seed, 0.9 Ounce (Pack of 6)

I used these a lot in my cooking, but they are expensive as many spices are. I tend to buy the small container and then wham! I am out again. I bought the pack because they are less expensive than at my local grocery store and I did not have to drive there! Thank you Amazon.

Not the same as McCormick organic seeds so that was disappointing but I guess these would do if you needed caraway seeds.

When it comes to spices, my philosophy is when in doubt on what brand to choose in a grocery store, reach for the McCormick spices. I know in choosing McCormick it will always be a good flavorful spice that tastes the way it is supposed to. I have never had a McCormick spice that there isn't enough flavor. I rate other spices as in if they are better or not as good as McCormick.What this is:This is a 6 pack of caraway seeds. These are the small containers- .9 ounces. Great when just a little is needed. To have 6 means always a fresh container of caraway seed.Opening a container up:It has a foil lined seal. Unpeel this and to me, I can smell rye bread. The lid is flip top with 5 bigger holes for easier sprinkling.To taste:I love caraway seeds. I put them in my homemade rye bread and in my sauerkraut. It is a spice I go through a lot.I pop a couple in my mouth. It tastes as I expect it to. It reminds me of rye bread. It is slightly sweet. The bitterness is minimum. It has flavor. I feel caraway seeds have a great effect on the quality of rye bread. If the caraway seed has no flavor, the rye bread is lacking. Making a batch of rye bread and letting it sit out overnight, the bread taste very flavorful. I can taste the caraway seeds.

I'm used to bulk pricing on Caraway Seed. Being whole seeds, these don't need as much protection from going stale as other spices... so being a pack of 6 small shakers like this is a little bit pointless, but the quality is typical none-the-less.The flavor is good, the price is not. I'll be sticking to bulk options... but I do tend to use a lot of spices in a year.I ordered these June 2022, and the containers are marked Best by February 2026. Packed in USA, but the country of origin for the seeds themselves is not indicated.

During the pandemic, my husband was laid off work, and like many others, he practised some kitchen skills. WIth him it was bread making. We had some highly unseasoned bland doozies. But he improved, and now he makes wonderful Rye bread, and adds caraway seeds to it.Our last bottle of Caraway Seeds was expired by several years, and i told him to throw the nasty thing out, and I’d get him some more.This 6 pack is very useful, because you can open one, and the other 5 remain sealed and airtight.Caraway seeds go wonderfully in Rye Bread, if you’ve not tried it, it gives it a sort of licorice hint to the bread. Very nice.He says he wants to make cabbage, with caraway seeds and a good brown mustard to go with kielbasa, which made raise my eyebrows, as I’d not heard of that, and i guess we have enough Caraway Seeds to experiment with that too.I’ve never been disappointed with McCormick herbs and spices, and these are no exception. 5 stars.
