Worth it for the serious FZ collector.
This was my 1st album as a 6 year old. Wonderful to have the whole show 40 years later. This version of the Mothers touring band of course included Howard Kaylan & Mark Vollman of Turtles fame providing most of the vocals and improvised humor. "The Mud Shark" solo is essential earlyish Zappa. Other highlights include "Latex Solar Beef", "Willie the Pimp", a great "Peaches", and the Turtles "Happy Together". 50th Anniversary version includes the unreleased encore with John Lennon and Yoko Ono. Plus another 3 sides of previously unreleased material. Maybe not essential for the casual Zappa listener but this one has always held a special one for me. If you like this one, I highly recommend the 3LP "Mothers Live at the Rainbow Theatre". Same band, different set, more great '71 Mothers mayhem.

the john lennon stuff couldve been replace by better material from the cd boxset
i dont understand why they included the horrid john lennon yoko crap on here when there was 6 cds worth of material they put on the cd boxset of the same namethe “scumbag” jam is a total piss take and not in a good way and frank even stops to sarcastically describe what a “great idea” it isthat being said, i have an original copy on vinyl from wayback and i did a side by side-the vinyl i had was very rigid and flat sounding and this mix/master is an overall improvement. wish they would’ve ixnayed on the lennon yoko garbage as 1.it was already released and 2. theres so much more they could’ve put instead. but the remix/master is way better than the original . i used to have the ryko cd from the 90s but its gone so i couldn’t compare it with that.

Frank Zappa - Fillmore East (3LP)
Saludos.

As fantastic as “Zappa in New York”!
An awesome remastering of an already great album, full of surprises and disk times surpassing 25 minutes in the most part. Slightly superior to it’s accompanying “Rainbow Theatre”release.
