High strung is a funny, hot
High strung is a funny, hot, and a real gem of a find. This is a new author to me and I was recommended the book. As a rockstar book lover this story was right up my street and I'm glad I was recommended it.I found myself laughing throughout the whole story. The characters were likeable and easy to connect with the story was just a fun ride. The story was wrote in duel POV by Dan Evans and Ashlyn.Dan is a typical rockstar man whore. He has women throwing themselves at him and he is more than happy to bed them. Dan is used to women throwing themselves at him and he never hears the word no. That is until he meets Ashlyn. She shows no interest in him at all and Dan thinks of breaking her down as a challenge to him. He's a character that is fun and that you can't help but fall in love with. I love a badass rocker and Dan certainly filled that role perfectly.Ashlyn is a refreshing character. She is a very sassy, sarcastic, witty, determined and funny character. You can't help but like her, especially when she isn't impressed by Dans fame.Ashlyn finds herself out of a job. She's got bills stacking up and decides she's no choice to but try to get any job she can. She ends up interviewing to become the assistant to Power Station, the band where Dan is the base player. Although she and Dan don't get off to the best start, there is chemistry between them and Dan is determined to work his way in to Ashlyn's heart and head whether she likes it or not.Dan is very inappropriate at times, but that never bothered me. It made me laugh and I loved his inappropriateness.I loved that Ashlyn was very down to earth, and never let the members of Power Station faze her. She didn't care that they were famous or that Dan used his fame to get what he wants.Although they had electric chemistry Dan had a lot of work to do to impress Ashlyn and that wasn't something he was used to. I liked knowing he had to work to get what he wanted from a women, instead of them just falling at his feet. The whole story was a wild ride. I found the story refreshing and very funny. It was a lot more light hearted than most rockstar stories. The story was fast paced with great characters that were easily loveable. The story was sexy but not over the top. There was drama and misunderstandings throughout the story to keep you interested, there was also a lot of misunderstandings between the couple.I enjoyed the story and loved Sent from my iPadI can't wait until the next book.5 stars

Loved Dan !!!
High Strung centres around one of the most prominent and forthright female lead characters that I have read for a long time.Ash is one bad ass woman, she doesn’t suffer fools and makes her displeasure abundantly clear – you go girl!!Dan is the bass guitarist with Power Station and is the dictionary definition of man whore! He has no brain to mouth filter and cares even less about the fact that his tact and diplomacy are non existent – I just loved him – he was so rude, crude and unrepentant that it was impossible not too!He catches a glimpse of Ash while she is waiting to be interviewed for a job with Lexi and I found myself chuckling when he tried his hand and she shot him down in flames – just not playing that game – good girl! But while she could brush him aside, he couldn’t forget the chopsy little madam that didn’t fall under his spell and does everything he can at every available opportunity to spend time with her.I honestly cried so much with the antics, it was superb!!Dan really came into his own later in the book and you will be completely besotted by him before the end, when you get to know the real him – the one he hides under all his bravado – he is adorable. His journey of self-discovery is what made this book for me, I like Ash but I absolutely loved Dan.

A really fun story
High Strung is the first standalone book in the Power Station Series, but you actually first meet the members of the band in The Lexi Series. I really enjoyed this book, it was so good, I was hooked from the start. I really enjoyed the story and loved the relationship between the main characters Ashlyn and Dan. This was a fun read and I'm now looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

Something not quite right...
This book left me a little... disappointed? I feel bad saying it as I did like Dan, despite his un-rock god name, and the female lead was okay. Now I myself swear like a trooper, often too much and often annoyingly so but even I don't match up to Dan. It felt like it was too much, that a man who was supposed to have hit 30 (and yes, I appreciate he's very laid back) still talks like a young boy trying to hard back in the 90's rom com movie. It just didn't work for me which was a real shame. The other side was how the story took the course towards the end. I didn't particularly like Lexi and I got thrown when Alex was the intro to the hot male of the story and turned out to not be 'the' person.. Altogether they are minor points, but as a whole I just couldn't really appreciate this book. But it does look like i'm the only one so maybe that's just me!
