It works!
I have been using this product on a 800-gal koi pond with one large koi and two shubunkin goldfish. Bottom line, it works great at stopping free-swimming algae. The water in my pond is very clear and clean. My fish are healthy. I was using a traditional algaecide before I switched to Nualgi, and my main reason for switching is that my cats and neighborhood wildlife like to drink from the pond and I didn't feel great about these animals drinking the algaecide, even at diluted concentrations. Even with the algaecide, I struggled to keep free-swimming algae at bay, and the pond water often looked murky. The plants in and around the pond were dying. Total water changes and pond bottom cleanings did nothing to help. I was using beneficial bacteria but to no avail. I switched to Nualgi in the spring, after the winter cold killed off most of the algae that had bloomed in the summer and fall. Right away, I noticed that string algae was forming on the waterfall that is part of the filtration and aeration system, but the floating algae was not coming back. Two years later, I still have zero issues w/ swimming algae. I do get string algae on the waterfall still, but that is easy to pull off in clumps and does not affect the clarity and quality of the water. The fish are healthier and more active, and the plants in the pond all came back to vibrant life. I did not change any other aspects of my pond care regimen, other than changing to the Nualgi. The beneficial bacteria colonies have rebuilt themselves in the pond and the Nualgi seems to work in a complementary fashion with the colonies to make my pond clean and clear. Nualgi is a great value for the price, bc so little goes a long way. I add about 1/4 of a tsp once a week -- that's it. So easy. Highly recommend you give it a try, but wait until your algae has died off a bit. I didn't find it effective in clearing a murky pond but rather in preventing the swimming algae from taking over otherwise clear or decent water.

String algae’s worst nightmare!
My 1,600 gallon pond has been struggling with string algae for the past several years, and every season got a little worse until I was battling it throughout the winter in my 6A zone. Not even weekly doses of barley straw extract could control it. I pulled all the string algae I could reach before adding this product as directed. Within 4 days my string algae was completely gone, as was the heavy carpet of algae that coated my pond walls. Only a very light coat remains. I used this product for three weeks and will now use it in an as-needed basis. It’s that strong and that fast. Best pond product I’ve found in many years.

String Algae gone - Pond is clear
This stuff really works miracles. We struggled with string algae for years in our 1600 gal goldfish pond. We had a good pump, filter with U/V etc. but nothing seemed to help. About 4 years ago we started with Nualgi and in a couple of weeks string algae just about disappeared and the pond was crystal clear. Since then we just squirt in a maintenance dose and thats it! I really can't say enough good things about Nualgi. FIsh are healthy, froggies always seem to find a place to hang out and no more nuisance algae. The UV light stopped working last year and we did not bother to replace it.

Seems to work
Read about Nualgi and the concept sounds good. Grow Diatom and have them eat up the nitrate and starve the algae. Shutdown my UV so it won't kill the diatom. I have a 2000 gallon pond with just 4 kois so it is not heavily stocked. I only feed them once a day. You only need to add 1ml per 1000 gallon so I bought the smallest bottle to try which is 60ml. This should last 30 weeks for me. Expected results can vary from a few days to up to 4 weeks so decided to try it for at lesst four weeks. I was careful not to over dose as it contains metal which can be harmful to kois if you add too much. Did notice my kois were much less active once I started adding nualgi. After 4 weeks, no improvements at all. I was really hoping this would work because Diatoms would lower the nitrates. UV filter would just kill the algae but the nitrate is still there so I liked Nuagli's approach better. I will wait another 1 to 2 weeks then go back to my UV filter. Hope other users have better luck. I was hoping to at least see some kind of improvement. Attached weekly pictures. No visual improvements. June 18, 2022 Up-date Changed rating from 1 star to 4 stars. Christian at Nualgi suggested my problem may be because my pond has no diatoms. I added 3 gallons of water from one of my fishtanks and put as much diatoms as I can then waited a month. After 1 month, added 2ml of Nualgi and the pond cleared up in 3 days. Seems to be working. It was hard to believe my pond didn't have any diatoms. Regardless, glad the algae is gone and I can now see my kois. Nitrate levels seems to have gone down also. Didn't use my UV filter at all.

It works!
We have a pond in full sun. Established since 2011. We also have a UV light. This year our water was so green as wouldn’t clear up. I ordered this product and it is the only thing that got rid of our green water!

Great product! It takes a little time to start working but once it does it works great
I've been using this product for a couple years now in my koi pond and it takes a couple weeks for it to kick in, especially in the beginning of the year. You want to put a little extra in. But after it starts working just use a little bit every few weeks and you will have crystal clear water with happy, healthy fish and plants. It works great. Be patient. Use a little more than what it says the first few times the beginning of the season. But after that just every few weeks a little bit. I use No chemicals, no infrared light needed. Just a Skippy filter or biofilter and use this and you'll have a crystal clear pond.

Another Snake Oil Product
As others reported, I followed all the instructions but failed to any positive results, only negative. As you can see in my attached pictures, my prefilter foam captures the algae before the filtration system. Before adding this Nualgi Pond Care product, there was barely any algae captured on these foam filters but now they are clogged by the end of the day. I am trying to find a product that will clear the water in a 25,000 gallon swimming pool converted into a pond that has been running for 3 years. This product only made the water thicker with algae.

Pool cleaner
So far, we aren't seeing any improvement. Directions don't indicate if the chemicals need to be applied to a clean pool or not.

This is an amazing product!!!
This product is a must for your pond! I have used it for about 4 years now. A little goes a long way! You do not need to run the uv light on your bio filter and it is all natural! It is expensive but lasts and makes your pond water super clear. It is worth it! You have to try it!! You just put in enough for the size of your pond once a week. When the temps get cold...like winter I run my pump bio filter and you put it in one a month for maintenance. We live in Southwestern Ontario, Canada

Product appears to do as advertised
Product certainly seemed to help clarify pond but I also introduced a uv light at the same time so they may well have worked together.

Pure snake oil.
This must be a joke. I had a pretty clear pond, with a bad string algae problem. I did exactly as the instructions said. Turned off my UV light, I went to a local swamp and got some water to make sure I had some diatoms in my water and then added the appropriate amount of the product. It's been 3 weeks and I can't even see the fish in the pond anymore. Now I have a green pond with a bad string algae problem. This is snake oil.

not impressed
Not impressed. For the price of this stuff, it doesn’t work that well. I added it to our pond and it didn’t do much at all to clear the water. Maybe for hydroponics it is better.
