Work Song (Fall in Love)

Strong heroine and some serious steam!
Tatiana Green is one of those women that every man dreams of, yet often seems to put in the friend zone. She is a fashion blogger, yet her true dream is to become a sports writer, football in particular. She can talk lip gloss just as well as last Sunday’s matchups, yet because she is a woman, she’s not taken seriously in the sports world. She’s found a “work best friend” in Wes Barnes, some three thousand miles away in California, where he works for the same company. They’ve flirted and joked via email for months and when Wes begins to have some issues at work, they start talking on the phone. When Tati finds out that Wes will be relocating to New York and they will be working in the same building, their relationship changes, and Tati must decide what is more important to her, her budding relationship with Wes or the chance to write for Sports Central, fulfilling her lifelong dream. When it becomes apparent that they can’t fight their attraction, the couple must decide how to pursue their relationship in light of their company’s fraternization policy. And when Wes’s position changes and opportunities open up for Tati, they’re thrown yet another loop. Can it possibly work between these two that are seemingly made for each other? Can Tati have it all, love and the job of her dreams?Finding a truly strong heroine in the romance genre can be difficult, and Tatiana truly shines in that respect. She’s self-assured, regardless of what society tells her. She’s got curves and isn’t afraid to embrace them. She is comfortable in her skin and isn’t afraid to share herself, both in and out of the bedroom, with a man that many in society would deem out of her league, and she does so with a confidence that is refreshing. And oh, Wes Barnes…Wes is seriously one of the most swoon-worthy heroes I have ever come across. Seriously, the man is the walking personification of sex, and not just in an overt type of way. I’m a huge fan of the friends to lovers trope and the fact that he is Tati’s friend more than anything made him that much more attractive.I absolutely adored the characters and loved the storyline. They felt genuine and you couldn’t help but fall in love with them both and the story sizzled from the get go. Allen is a master at slow burn and the result between Tati and Wes is amazing. My biggest issue with the book though is Tati’s thumb. And I know that probably sounds like the most ludicrous thing ever, but the word thumb is mentioned 49 times. For as many times as Tati bites the end of her thumb she should be left with a stump. She seriously gives Ana and her lip biting a run for their money. It really got distracting after awhile and it does give a bit of vulnerability to the character, however using it less frequently would have been far more effective. This is my first read by Allen and definitely not my last. If any of her other characters are anything like Wes and Tati I know I’m destined to fall in love again. If you’re looking for a smoldering read with a strong message of empowerment, look no further; you’ll love this one.

Work Song
This would be my third book by author Danielle Allen and I have to say I'm digging her books and her writing style thus far. Just from the third books I've read the author writes some really strong but yet flawed female characters. Her male character seem to leave you swoon and saying DAMNN go head alpha. In this story "Work Song" well follow career minded never been in love Tatiana Green and Wes a man who knows his movies and a drive for success as well. When the book begins we find Tati being proposed to by her three year boyfriend. Having just turned down his proposal she is left with a parting thought "You're incapable of loving someone else" said by ex Lance. Is Tati unable to love? That is the question she finds herself asking but then enter Wesley Barnes. What I loved: I loved how body positive Tati was throughout this whole book she didn't let no one not even her witch of a mother and sister make her think she wasn't the sh$t. I loved the relationship Tati and Wes develop . Lastly I love how this author was able to encapsulate you in experience of experiencing love for the first time especially when you think you incapable of it. I wholeheartedly recommend giving this book and definitely this author a try.

It Takes the Right Man
This was the perfect love story leading up to Valentines Day. You have no choice but to get absorbed into the budding love of Tati and Wes. Both deem themselves as slightly awkward because of their insatiable love of songs & movies and they “get” each other in a way no other person has. Cute office email banter quickly turns virtual office buddies into long distance crushes. Their crush further gets complicated when Wes & Tati are forced to meet face-to-face due to the company’s restructuring. And THAT is where your heart soars. When Wes first sees Tati the lust and love he has for her is immediate. And when Mr. Wes walks into the office and Tati first lays eyes on him you know that he is the cure to her inability to find and fall in love and for the reader...Wes is an instance Book Bae! At first, they’re stuck behind the disbelief that they could actually have feelings for each other, but that is quickly thrown out of the window as a beautiful relationship labeled as friendship takes root. The way Wes loves on Tati sets your soul on fire! From his protection, to his defense, to gentle coaching of encouragement, to his touchdown performances in the bedroom...a moment to breathe in those TOUCHDOWNS with two-point conversions lol, but mostly his love of the game that is Tati makes this a love story for the ages. Indeed, she finds out that the right man loving you in the right way can bring out just the right kind of love in you.

Loved it!!!
Tatiana didnt believe in love and any chance at it she would run from it. Talking to a coworker via email, piqued her interest, but it was ok because she thought she would never meet him, until she did. When Wesley first saw Tatiana he knew it was her and she was it for him. As Tati and Wes hang out getting to know each other there feelings grow and Tati is in love, but of course she wouldn't face it. Tired of being friend zoned Wes walked away and this hurt Tati more than she expected. Finally coming to her senses she went after her man. When I say this book was good, it was better than good. Tati is my girl. She knew what she wanted and went after it. She didnt back down from the haters and she fought for what she wanted. I loved Wes and Tati friendship and was rooting for them from the beginning. I didnt want this book to end and want so much more of them. Man Danielle Allen wrote one strong black women book and if you every drought yourself on anything, read this book and Tati will show you what to do!!!

A beautifully written love story
I have given this a five star rating as it was a joy to read. The story resonated with me on so many different levels. Tatiana is , on the face of it, a positive, fun loving career woman. Like most of us, incidences from her past affects the decisions she makes in life as an adult. I love how Danielle Allen guides both lead characters through their decisions in character and life. You won't be disappointed...in the meantime I am off to find and download the rest of her work.
