Confidence booster for Kindergartener
I bought this hoping that it would interest my soon-to-be 5 year old in feeling confident in spelling and reading on her own. Its effect was immediate - she tried a (green) "copy" card that was easy to follow. She also intentionally tried a (red) "spell" card because she saw that it was fairy-tale themed. Despite the fact that she was not sure what the words were or how to spell them...she was able to try figure it out "puzzle" style and checked the back of each tile (in the appropriate colour row) until she found the right tiles that fit! LOL. Well, at least it taught patience and persistence! And she was able to solve the words ON HER OWN, which was a confidence boosting feat in itself. This is a very interesting learning toy - there is nothing similar to it right now on the market. I love that it is self-correcting and the child can feel that they can read and spell on their own, even if they do not know the words yet. I would love if there were more learning cards to be purchased, as an add-on.I think it is worth the extra cost paid to have it shipped to Canada. (I could not find it for purchase anywhere else.) Very fast shipping btw - only took 2 days to arrive!! Earlier than estimated!!

Brilliant for learning to read
I bought this for my son for Christmas, as well as the maths version from the same manufacturer. I have to say, this is one of his favourite learning activities. With the colour coded letters and the pins on the rear of the tiles, he finds it quite simple to discover the correct letters when he's not certain. I've definitely seen an improvement in his spelling and reading because of this, so I'd recommend for others with children starting to read/spell.

Good way to learn by trial and error
Child in KS1 was resistant to writing or spelling, but this game made it ‘easy’ to piece it together and experiment until they got it right. Each piece has a special configuration of dots so that it only fits in the intended places. It makes it possible to cheat, but if cheating means learning...then sign me up.

Missing letters
Opened on Christmas to find the letter "C" is missing and other extra letters in place, so unable to complete some words and sheets, not really ideal when trying to help daughter learn to spell with a missing letter...

Well-designed
This is a really carefully and thoughtfully designed educational toy which my 5 year old granddaughter who has just started school was completely absorbed by. It's also robust and well-made
