Thorne tells us: "Thorne Research sources its ingredients from around the world.   However, what is much more important than the country of origin of an ingredient is the testing that is done on that ingredient when it is received by the manufacturer. Thorne Research does not rely on the Certificate of Origin from an ingredient supplier. Instead, Thorne Research tests every single ingredient in our own in-house laboratory, regardless of the ingredient's country of origin, to verify the ingredient's identification, purity, and quality." Thorne does not reveal the country of origin of a raw material because that business information is both confidential and proprietary.  To disclose the country of origin of a raw material would provide an unfair advantage to our competitors because of the ongoing competition for reliable sources of high-quality raw materials.  However, every incoming raw material, no matter its country of origin, is initially quarantined at Thorne, during which time it undergoes rigorous quality assurance processes.  These quality assurance processes include microbiological analysis, testing for solvent residues, and screening for pesticides, heavy metals, and other suspected contaminants.
Thorne cares deeply about where we source our raw materials.  Our research and development team sources ingredients from around the world, and we make every conceivable effort to maintain supply chain transparency from the country of origin to our facility in South Carolina. Thorne partners only with suppliers of ingredients and components whose practices emphasize quality, science, integrity, and responsibility. Premium raw ingredients mean better potency, better absorption, and better digestibility of the final product – and ultimately better health.
