A great introduction to not just Wireshark
I'm still making my way through the book, but here are my initial impressions:There is A LOT of hand holding throughout the book. I, personally, like this but it may turn some people off or just have them skip the extra explanations. This is definitely a book for beginners and if you already have some experience with Wireshark or Kali you may find the information presented as a nice refresher or prefer to skip to the chapters that are relevant to you. This book does not solely focus on Wireshark, but also on methodologies used by security professionals. It implements MSF and other tools one would use on a regular basis. I'm looking forward to continue with the labs and explanations throughout the rest of the book.If you're new to the field or are looking to expand into new areas, I would highly recommend this book. If you have already been around the block for some time, you may already know most of the information presented but may benefit by some of the more updated information the authors bring in.

Wireshark would not run with the Virtual lab
I thought the book was well written and gives a lot of explanation of what is going on. I would have rated it 5 star except there are too many typos on critical issues. Like giving a path In Chapter 4 on page 134 of /user/bin/ yah. Just when I was getting excited to do the Man in the middle attack labs.Changing the command to the correct path /usr/bin threw other errors. Also, while it has this cool artificial practice lab, that is supposed to let you practice attacks, I found it useless. The same page 134 instructs you to anticipate an error if you run the lab and try to start Wireshark. It then tells you a command to enter to make it so that Wireshark will open and run.I entered the command, and Wireshark gives the same error. So I was unable to run Wireshark while running the lab... kind of funny since you buy the book to learn Wireshark, they guide you to watch Wireshark during the lab attacks - and you can't run Wireshark,The attacks you are supposed to do begin in chapter 4, - couldn't do any of them while observing with Wireshark... which is what I bought the book to learn.(Check the name). I only read the first 6 chapters, as there was no point in continuing without the foundation in place. Really a turnoff. The author points out that Kali and the GitHub repository of the labs are both moving targets...so warns may be issues. this was an unacceptable issue - a good read - but you may not be able to utilize what I thought was supposed to be the main selling point of the book. (I am running Kali 2018.1 fully updated and downloaded the latest master form GitHub)

Covered material very well and had added bonuses.
This a very well written book and taught more than I anticipated. He also guides people to set up a Kali Linux VM and delved into Dockers and containers which was an added bonus that I was not expecting. He did a very thorough job on the actual subject of Wireshark with lots of useful insights.

I haven't read it all, but it seems well ...
I haven't read it all, but it seems well written and descriptive of Wireshark and it's high learning curve. Focused quite a bit on the virtual systems analysis, which is probably reasonable for most serious applications.

Book does not include instructions for updated Kali Linux
So, I will start my review of the book on a positive note. There are tons of things I learned that didn't I didn't know about Wireshark. Great resource for Wireshark and some other tools. However, the lab in chapter 4 I could never get to work because it doesn't take the latest updates to Kali Linux into account. Nor did python 3.8 come out when this book was written. So many things in the code has changed and it never worked for me. With that said, I still found it useful, but not productive. I was hoping to do some labs with it, but was not able to.

Great book so far
Great book so far, I have only received it yesterday but it has some very nice and easy to read aspects on setting up a lab and working with some of the concepts of the book.

useful for those getting into wireshark. bought to accelerate my skills in the tail end of my college program. most concept in this book had already been covered in my program and this book was not very useful. i dont think to many professionals would find this book worthwhile.
