True Brit Grit - A Charity Anthology

This anthology of short stories is like a vicious slap across the face when you're cornered in a dead end alley. Various writers take the reader on a dark journey into rain soaked streets where menace and death are lurking around every corner. There's sadness and humour within these stories but very little redemption. I found this a great read in short bursts, returning to it between longer novels so that the stories stayed fresh. To summarise the perfect choice for short sharp shocks but be prepared for some bleak evenings where hope has no harbour. This is a charity compilation so well done to the authors for giving their work to a worthy cause.

This is a great collection of short stories by variety of authors. I particualy enjoyed Adrian Magson story. It had such a good plot and character that it could, with a lot more detail and background added, have been a full length novel.I went on to buy one of his novels. Recommend this one if your a short story fan, and want to find some new authors

Some really good stories in this collection. well worth the low cost. Good British storytelling from some known authors and new talent.

Loved each of these stories, they started me off on a noire binge that ran through other collections but also through many of the individual authors. Great introduction to writers I might not have considered otherwise. Quick reads and tasty as a bag of crisps, but satisfying long after. Well done!
