Broadside is a nice retool of the Alpha Trion mold
Broadside is a nice retool of the Alpha Trion mold. The robot mode looks very good, and the aircraft carrier mode is pretty good, too. The jet mode is definitely the weakest of the three modes. According to the instructions, the legs make a very boxy-like shape that's supposed to make up the rear part of the jet and doesn't look very aerodynamic. However, I created a fan mode for the jet that eliminates the "boxy" rear of the jet. I find my solution to be satisfactory, so I give the figure 5 stars.

Donāt mind the flaws too much
Due to high numbers of complaints on this guy, Iāve avoided him for the longest time, but I finally broke down and bought him (after seeing his G1 episode). Sure the stickers suck and his ājet modeā is worse than Primeās, but his main mode (carrier) and robot mode are awesome!! Heās big, bulky and looks like he could take on a leader class figure even though heās smaller.

Jet mode isn't nearly as bad as it looks
This... this is a character I have fond memories of due to having his original G1 toy as a kid. Even in memories I distinctly recall he was basically nothing more than a brick with wings, but it was still amazing to me. This Broadside basically captures his feel quite well with some fairly large quibbles. He's sturdy, large and imposing, and makes a fine aircraft carrier (more so with the Aerialbots on his deck). His jet mode though is appallingly bad in that his legs are positioned like they are though, his hands are fairly loose, and you can forget about pegging in his flight deck to his back when in robot mode if you've popped one of the Aerialbot decorations on a specific peg...But overall he does capture the character very well. And here's a shocker for a lot of you staring at the above jet picture on Amazon: it actually doesn't look nearly as bad in person as it does here. For whatever reason Amazon's picture looks like he was squatting down and fell onto his back when in his jet mode, but in real life it's a lot more gentle of a bump. Is it still noticeable? Oh definitely. But it's not as bad as it appears here. Doesn't excuse the fact that they slapped his freaking horizontal/vertical stabilizers on backwards though.../editI just looked at his jet mode photo again here, and the dang thing isnāt correctly transformed! You can see the two pegs on his groin which his legs attach to on the inner thigh (hence why his legs are so dang far up), and his arms havenāt been lowered which means you have this horribly un-aerodynamic setup with his shoulders and cockpit/torso!

Average figure.
This figure only gets 3 stars from me.Their was some quality control issues that really prevented me from rating higher. One big issue is that one of the legs is so loose that it just droops to the point where itās almost unable to transform into the ship mode.Another be it smaller issue is the wings like to pop off at the hinge their on.

Great figure, bad jet mode
I bought this figure with low expectations for the jet mode and good expectations on the other two modes. In hand the jet mode is horrid but it is balanced out by the amazing robot and aircraft carrier modes. Just stay away from the jet mode

Great triple changer!
Nice triple changer. The plane mode looks a little odd so you have to use your imagination a bit. Best in robot mode.
