Didax Algebra Lab Gear, 2 student set

This is one of my favorite tools for teaching Algebra 1, especially quadratic factoring. I color one side red with a sharpie so that we can do negatives numbers and terms, but overall they are a great tool.

I recently retired after 40 years of teaching high school math. This lab gear was my ultimate favorite. It is the best for teaching artistic gifted children or any child who doesn’t understand algebra. The use of colors to distinguish between numbers and letters is genius. I highly recommend these blocks along with the book. I ordered these for a friend who is beginning her career.

I had high hopes for the Didax Algebra Lab Gear tiles to enhance my homeschooler's pre-algebra learning experience, but unfortunately, this set fell far short of expectations.Firstly, the lack of color-coded tiles to designate variables such as x, y, and negative numbers is a glaring oversight. It's baffling how a product marketed for educational use would omit such a fundamental feature. Without clear visual distinctions, it becomes unnecessarily confusing and defeats the purpose of using manipulatives to aid comprehension.Additionally, while the set boasts a variety of tiles, quantity alone does not compensate for the lack of functionality. What good are numerous tiles if they fail to fulfill their intended purpose effectively?

So excited 😆 to use this in my classroom this year.
