CHARNEY & NESTLER'S NEUROBIOLOGY OF MENTAL ILLNESS
A**R
If you dont care about Bipolar, OCD, ADHD or Eating Disorders.....
Overall, the book was a satisfactory summary of research on a few disorders. The best part of the book was definitely the section on mood disorders, which contained a comprehensive and organized review of neuroimaging. However, the rather simplistic neurochemical sections were cringe-worthy.While the section on psychotic disorders was also fairly extensive, it was disorganized and poorly written. Furthermore, the merging of bipolar and psychotic disorders resulting in almost no content on bipolar disorder. The sparse information of bipolar made the psychotic disorder section look like https://www.amazon.com/Behavioral-Neurobiology-Disorder-Treatment-Neurosciences/dp/3642157564 in comparison to the OCD and Tic disorder section. The section on Tic and disorders and OCD was by far the worst section in the book. There was probably one informative sentence in the whole section, if that.
