Q: How many inches are between the floor and the start of the frame? I am trying to find a bed frame that my cat can't get under.

We have the one with drawers- our kitties can't get under it.

It comes with 4 identical drawers. 2 for each side

Q: Approximately how many inches deep does the mattress sit on the wooden slates?

The wooden slats only sit about an inch below the frame itself so the mattress is almost even with the frame. Hope this helps

The slats are 4 and a half inches apart. They are prearranged and can't be altered.
