I almost bought a more expensive wooden set, but some of them were excessively expensive and others had problematic reviews, including surprise customs and shipping costs. This set has none of those issues and it's aesthetically pleasing. It's plastic, but not thin 'tacky' plastic - it has a good feel to it. So, for a handy set for travel, or for having around the house, this is great for the price. The magnets are strong enough to hold the pieces in place with jostling or movement of the board but not strong enough to hold them if the board is held 180 degrees upside down. But then, that's pretty extreme and why are you playing chess on a rollercoaster anyway?

This is a good size portable chess. It is folded into to pieces and can be sealed keeping the chess pieces inside so you do not lose them as with traditional chess boards.The pieces are strong but not too heavy and I really like how they have been shaped. The board is labelled, which is a plus as not all chess boards come with the labelling.Great to take it outdoors and have a game during a panic or on the beach.

This is a nice-looking magnetic chess set with decent-looking knights. It is rare to find chess sets at this price point with recognisable knights (that do not look like they were drawn by a three year old). The colour of the board resembles those used in official competitions. The magnetic function, however, does not last long (they start to become very weak after around 8 to 10 months).

Great quality I was worried about getting another magnetic game as I got one before and it was usles but this one is fantastic the pieces are lovely no sharp bits and so clear a great size it says 6+ but great for adults as well got it for grandson he's chuffed to bits with it well worth the money it even has a bag for it

Very nice and compact chess board. The storage bags are really useful and help to keep things tidy. The board has a good size and doesn't take up too much space. The fact that the pieces are magnetic allows us to play on the balcony without being scared of the pieces being blown off by the wind. The only reason why I gave four instead of five stars is that the magnet could be slightly stronger. Good purchase though.

Pleasantly surprised by this chessboard, the magnetic part gives a nice feel of weight to the piece when you move them around, overall well built. Could do with having just a little more space on the inside to help with the ease of putting the pieces away in their provided bags, bit of a fight to get it closed with the bags

This chess set isn’t at all bad for the money. However, it doesn’t contIn draughts / checkers as shown in the pictures.I wouldn’t give it to young children as the board won’t stand up to careless handling. The pieces are of a really good quality. Well made and slightly magnetic. Very good to play with.

I have purchased this chess set as a gift to a child to play. The magnetic set type, in this case, is very important - to give children the opportunity to play everywhere and to keep the set from derangement when they get excited around the set.Unfortunately, the magnets of this set are very weak. One of the product's photos is showing pieces on their place with the board half folded. This is not doable in reality - pieces are sliding. Also - the pieces and the board doesn't look Deluxe at all (as it is stated in the product description).I'm very disappointed with this product!!!
