too cliche... unrealistic
I can appreciate imagination... a wild one at that (heck I am a writer and read several books weekly myself)...BUT: even for me, this one was a bit far-fetched. perhaps it was the ending that was too neatly packaged without waves or strife after the 16-year missing persons mystery had been solved or maybe it was the romance that had promised forever when the main character, Macy, evidently continued to sprint away anytime challenging emotions emerged... either reason, I simply thought the book was fair. I think I came to that rating by giving the author credit for her other works. overall, too far-fetched... too many UN-frayed details at the end of an anticipatory mystery ... too many cliches.

Hermit Meets Wonder Woman
Great love story. A recluse that can't reconcile her past meets an effervescent detective who has plenty of emotional baggage. An interesting resolution to all their problems ensues. I would recommend this book to my friends.

amusing enough distraction, but poorly written
This was my first time reading VK Powell, and while the book was an amusing enough distraction from every day life, I found the book poorly written, the sex scenes laughable (and not entirely believable), and Ms. Powell's use of similes and metaphors overindulgent. Additionally, the mystery was entirely too easy to figure out. I did appreciate Ms. Powell's knowledge of forensic reconstruction and wish that she could've brought the kind of detail she put into describing that into the other aspects of her novel. Her descriptions of forensic reconstruction were painted with detail and description, while her interactions between the two main characters were simply shot full of metaphors and similes, like a grammar murder scene.

I always enjoy Powell's book
I always enjoy Powell's book...I smiled and laughed. I was stressed about Leigh and Susan's reunion. The building relationship between Macy and Leigh made me crazy and Macy's hold on her past was a little twisted. The end of the book was a surprise and I do like to be kept guessing.
