Q: are these shoes full grain leather?

they appear to be to me. I know this much I wear them everywhere. They are so comfortable.

Q: Are they slip resistant?

I would say so, maybe not so much for ice. I haven't had any issues. The soles are not smooth but have rounded lugs which helps with traction.

Q: In the product image on amazon, these shoes have what look like holes on the sides? Why?

I think the “holes” you see are simply part of the way the shoes are constructed. The “holes” do not appear on the interior (“foot-side”) of the shoe.

Q: are they formal dress?

I’d say they’re more casual dress shoes for work or going out to informal gatherings or dinner. They’re not as dressy as you might wear with a suit to a wedding or other formal dress up events. Hope that helps.
