Misleading
I received my Essential Oils pocket reference 5th edition today. I believe it was misleading because the advertisement says it is the book written by Gary Young. This book is not written by Gary Young and again it is the fifth edition. Your description says newly updated. There's a seventh edition that is out that I paid less money for and I have brand new. Was also purchased on Amazon. I was under the impression that this was written physically by the founder of young living and was rather excited about it. So I'm paying almost twice as much for two editions less. Also one picture showing is not this physical book that I am looking at. It is also a different color cover Etc. Was disappointed I had to wait roughly 2 weeks for this to arrive and have it be such an old Edition for so much money. Though I'm sure the information is excellent as it can only have been improved upon in the next two Editions, I don't believe it was worth the amount of money I paid. Very disappointed in this purchase.

Great condensed reference guide for those new to oils
Great condensed reference guide for those new to oils. I would recommend looking into the desk reference guides since they contain more in-depth beneficial information. I enjoy being able to learn about the history of each oil. It also shares how to properly use oils and which are best for certain issues/ailments, etc I love essential oils and can't believe I lived without them for so long!

Detailed Reference Book
I was unsure of how much I would actually use this book as I have the internet at my finger tips. However, I find myself using this book all the time. I make bath and beauty products with essential oils and I am always blending. I have to reference this book to make sure I am not mixing an essential oil that's used for something that contradicts what another is used for. This book is very detailed and informational. I am very pleased with this purchase!

Wonderful resource!
The Essential Oil Pocket Reference is an awesome resource for those who are interested in the uses and healing qualities of essential oils. I purchased the book because I am an independent distributor of Young Living Essential Oils and wanted more in depth information to share with customers. The reference book is divided into sections covering single oils, oil blends, and personal usage. The section on usage covers various life/health concerns with suggested oils to help with specific conditions. There is quite extensive information regarding application and usage techniques. This book is well written, clear and concise, is very easy to use because of its organization and packs a large amount of information between its covers. I began using mine as soon as it arrived and have no doubt that it will be my go-to guide for all things "oils"!

just what I needed
This is a good little reference for using essential oils. It gives enough information to get me started in the right direction and in most cases, to successfully tackle a problem. Each person responds differently, and it gives me choices for when an oil does not do for me what it does for others. It takes each essential oil and gives an overview of it, and it discusses some oil blends. It is also indexed by condition, so all you have to do is look up, say, fibromyalgia, and you can flip to a page which suggests the better oils for that condition, along with how to use them. It should be noted that the blends discussed in this book are young living blends. Since that is the only brand I will buy for natural medicine purposes, that is just fine with me.

A must for those that are trying to distance them from prescription and OTC meds.
If you are trying to get healthy and stop the constant push from doctors and the media to take more and more meds, this is the book for you. With the use of Young Living essential oils I have been able to stop taking Prilosec which I had been taking for 10 years and Premarin which I had been taking for 15. We no longer run to the drug store for every little ailment. There is a treatment for almost anything right in that book! A warning though. All essential oils are not created equal. We ONLY use Young Living. If the bottle says do not ingest then don't put it on your skin. Essential oil molecules are very small and are quickly absorbed into the skin and the bloodstream.

Must have
I love this book. I have other guide books for essential oils but this one gives me what I was hoping for.... It lists each of the YL oils: singles & blends and then later in the book it has a list if "issues" that one might have and a list of singles and blends that could help the issue and then how to use: topically, diffusing, orally, etc. There is a good history and more information about essential oils. I was looking for a book that had information about possible reactions, allergies, etc and what to do if that happens. There are great explainations in this book. I feel that topic is very important for anyone wanting to use and work with essential oils and any modality.

Great pocket reference
I use the essential oils Pocket Reference several times a week. It is packed with information about essential oils and how they can be used to improve the individual person's health. It lists characteristics of an oil, historical and medical uses for it, and scientific research that is the basis for the use of it. Not only that it also lists precautions, such as not to use oregano if suffering from high blood pressure or certain ones not to use if one has a history of seizures. So it is all spelled out carefully. Also useful information about massage technique. An invaluable resource.
