The Rising of the Shield Hero - Season 1 Complete [DVD]

This is an enjoyable series. I have been watching it for most of the day it has me hooked I'm not at all bothered that I haven't done a thing today so far. Watching it at a time like this, is taking my mind of the current global pandemic we having going on right now.

A good show, with plenty of character development. It gets a little show in the middle of the series but has a good finish.

Great plot, likeable characters, long episodes, cant wait for season 2

I thought the story was going to be like other ones like it but it was totally different in a very good way. it started slowly at the start but got better as it when on and I am looking and hoping there will make a season 2

The season can pretty much be split into four parts. It starts really well, an interesting story of the shield hero who is betrayed and friendless initially but builds up friendship with his slave, Raphtalia and then Filo... the problem is that Raphtalia is developing into an interesting and strong character in her own right but almost immediately after the duel with the spear hero, she is reduced to the role of a besotted simpleton competing for the hero's affections... it is very disappointing. The middle of the season is a bit dull with lots of travel, some more betrayals and underhand dealings but it gets good again at the end of the season. It is still a decent (and long) season but it has its peaks and troughs.

because of the subjects it explores, it can be hard to watch and hard to handle, but how the adventure plays out makes it more than worth it.

Absolutely brilliant, rpg/light novel; with a twist on emotional trauma using fantasy and magic and friendship.

This is the stuff that created binge watching!! Very good.

Primeramente lo obvio: Solo hay opciones en inglés y japonés.Ahora, no entiendo porque les tomó tanto unir la primera temporada en un solo paquete, pero al fin lo hicieron y es con un precio excelente; digo, por cada parte pagabas aproximadamente 1000 y por el completo poco menos de eso. Disco sencillo con portada inversa de diseño distinto, algo flojo para mi gusto, pero se aprecia el detalle pues veo que hay cada vez más entregas físicas que no se toman la molestia de ello. Diseño sobrio en los discos, nada arriesgado pero al tiempo tampoco falla nada.Ahora, no esperes un FMA con ésta serie, tiene más en común con SAO para lo bueno y lo malo. Personajes interesantes quizás no tan aprovechados pero entrañables, progreso de la historia aceptable y un arco de resolución que cierra ciclos para tener un último arco de apertura de cabos que daríua pié a lo que es la segunda temporada. En términos generales es una serie decente e interesante. Ahora, personalmente puedo decir que me encantó y pese a sus obvias fallas, es bastante buena para pasar un rato al borde del asiento.

Product thoughts:Initially, I thought my copy suffered water damage(based on the dark blotches on the back).Then I found out that's just how the Cover art is designed. So it threw me off for a moment.Set contains the first 13 episodes on 2 DVDs and 2 Blu-Ray Discs. Has both English and Japanese voice options, along with English Subtitles to fit your preference. DVDs are Region 1, 2, and 4. Blu-Rays are Regions A and B. Blu-Ray Discs have Naofumi on them, and DVDs have Raphtalia on them. It also contains a reverse cover.Series thoughts:1st Opening is okay. Took a few listens for me to get into it. 1st Ending is meh.Episode 13 has a different Opening and Ending, which again, is just okay in my opinion.Naofumi is so relatable it hurts! Seriously, I would react the exact same way in his situation.A lot of the early scenes with Raphtalia made me cry. Especially when she had a nightmare about her parents, and Naofumi comforted her. Both Malty and the Spear Hero(I won't say his name because I don't care) are the most unlikable characters in the entire series! Although I did laugh when Filo kicked the Spear Hero in the groin twice. Malty is literally doing everything she can to make Naofumi look bad, just because he uses a shield. Stuff like framing him for false rape, attacking Naofumi in the middle of a duel with the Spear hero, Sabotaging the racetrack so Naofumi will loose(which he doesn't), to even framing Naofumi for kidnapping her younger sister. Seriously, this woman makes me sick! I can't wait for her and the king to get their just deserts. Thankfully not all the villagers are rock stupid like the Spear Hero, Sword Hero and the Bow Hero, and actually treat Naofumi with respect for his good deeds. Which makes me happy know there's at least some form of justice left in this other world.Overall, this series is great! Main Character is not super OP, and very relatable, Raphtalia and Filo are cute, and even the younger sister, Melty is more likeable than a majority of the side characters. If you can handle the themes and the injustice scenes, I say give this a watch. If not, there's no harm in skipping it. It's completely your choice.
