Quiet Quality.
I bought a ROS( Ride Out Supply ) with 108 points of engagement and hated it. It was super loud and there was so much resistance that I could barely coast. This Shimano is amazingly quiet and smooth without any resistance. It had a solid build. My first ride with it was just under 30 miles and it preformed flawlessly. This is Quietest freewheel I have ever had. It's getting pretty bad where I live and I'd rather be stealthy than to advertise. Great freewheel so far.

Go with the Shimano part
All freewheels of this type work, but this one can be used with both 1/8" and 3/32" chains. My single speed bike happened to have a 3/32" chain, which made many other brands unusable. Also, this freewheel looks and feels great.

Get this one, not the other
This, the Shimano MX-30 is the one with 4 notches meant for use with a removal tool. The other similar one doesn't have the same notch pattern, rather some sort of thin notch that is apart of the threading. This one can actually be removed without destroying anything. It's the most silent freewheel I've used. I do have another louder one form a reputable brand, but I haven't found a specific use scenario that would make it better for me than the silence of this Shimano freewheel.

Poor quality control but still functions
This thing absolutely screams "cheaply made." Mine does not spin true - that is, if you look down at it as it's turning you can see the teeth move back and forth laterally due to the outer wheel not being attached straight. This is annoying and can cause a weird vibration in the chain at certain speeds but doesn't seem to have a huge impact on the function otherwise.Despite the manufacturing defect on mine, I have to give it four stars since it's so cheap and still technically works (It's still on my bike after almost a year of regular use).As other reviewers have mentioned, this thing is almost creepily silent, especially during the first few months of use.

Holy Smokes It's SUPER Quiet! Also Smooth. Using it on my eBike (Electric Bike).
The media could not be loaded. UPDATE: added video to show how quiet this one is compared to others :)So, the first thing I noticed about this freewheel was that it was just ever so slightly stickier than my older freewheel. Not by a lot, but it was noticeable. I believe that's due to the (possibly) thicker lubricant used in this one. BUT... you can only really tell a difference when you're spinning it with your finger. WILL NOT make a difference once it's on your bike. You won't be able to tell.I have a pretty powerful Electric Bike and with my old freewheel, it made a loud clicking noise whenever I wasn't pedaling (as like 99% of all bicycles do). But this one is just insanely quiet. I can only really hear it when someone else is riding my bike around and even then, only when they ride really close to me (and I have to be listening for it.It's also super smooth. No snags or anything like that.I had read in other reviews that there was a clicking noise but... that's definitely not the case with the one I got. So if you get one with a loud clicking noise, I'd send it back and get another. Could be faulty or something.Bottom line: I've been riding bikes for ~25 years and this is, by far, THE QUIETEST freewheel I've ever used. Didn't even know you could get them this quiet and I sampled a lot in a bike shop before going for this one. Definitely way quieter than anything they had in the bike shop. So awesome. Better than what I was expecting. Super happy with this purchase :)Hope this is helpful to someone out there!

Good value single speed freewheel
Good value, it's not a high end part so it's not super quiet but it's a Shimano branded freewheel. A step up if you're used to big box bikes with no name Chinese parts, a decent replacement if you need a single speed freewheel in a pinch. Reasonable price, good build and quality, and quiet enough. For anyone who has anything to say about the ratcheting volume, if it's too loud for you, you aren't going fast enough to get that wind noise in your ears; alternatively, don't stop pedaling. Gotta keep that cadence up anyways, am I right?

For my single speed 1/2*1/8
Rarely do reviews. When I slapped this on my single speed though I just HAD to write something about it. FANTASTIC. SO quiet, I can literally sneak up on a ninja; not even Spidey will hear me coming. It was easy to install, little to no effort compared to removing the last freewheel I had on my bike that had seized up. So friendly reminder to please grease the threads on bike and freewheel before installing. I used Lucas lithium grease to prevent future seizing. You'll thank me later.
