Not for use with Heart of Dakota
I bought this to use with Little Hearts for His Glory which was a mistake. The pages it directs you to read in the teacher's manual do not coordinate with the stories in Boys & Girls of Colonial Days. I figured it wouldn't be a big deal, I would just figure it out and note the correct pages in my teacher's book. It doesn't work. There are a few stories listed in the teacher's manual that aren't in this version, and there are a few stories in this version that aren't used in LHFHG. I would return it, but I already made notes on a few pages. So learn from me, get the right version if you are a Heart of Dakota user!

Not the same as the print edition from Beautiful Feet Press
I was using this text in our homeschool, and ordered this for my daughter's Kindle Freetime account. There are more stories in this Kindle edition. I looked through our hard copy of this book printed by Beautiful Feet, and the editors only used some of the stories. So I am not sure if I will leave it on her Kindle since she is 7. I trust the BF editors who are selling this book for character development, and I don't have time to read the whole Kindle version. I did read the Jack O'Lantern witch, which was not in the BF edition, and aside from it accounting some Salem witch trial superstitions, it seemed like a fine story of a child showing moral courage not to lie. If you are on a budget, this option is cheaper than BF and you will get more stories. You just may want to read ahead of your child so you can discuss any of the historically political issues.

but good stories.
A little flat for the kids to listen to, but good stories.

A living book for American History
I read this book to my six-year-old daughter as part of her study of early American history. There are many stories of courageous, hard-working, and quick-thinking colonial children that captured my daughter's attention. We both enjoyed the story of the little girl who made lots of soap that saved her from being kidnapped by an Indian, as well as the boy who escaped death with a young George Washington. This book makes a great addition to a homeschool or family library.

Fantastic short stories about children in colonial days
Fantastic short stories about children in colonial days. I read it to my kids and gifted it to a local schoolteacher, who was thrilled to use it for her class.

Great book
Great historical fiction stories of America's pioneer & colonial days. I needed it for a homeschool curriculum I'm using. It was especially great to download it for free directly to my kindle app on my iPad.
