Richsound Research (RSR) TB232SW 32-inch 2.1 Channel Soundbar with Subwoofer & Bluetooth (HDMI CEC; HDMI, Optical, Aux Cables, Wall Mounting Kit, and Remote Control Included)

For the price you really can't beat it. Sounds quality is perfectly adequate for TV, movies, and music for most people, just not for more discerning audiophiles. You get what you pay for. Most soundbars with HDMI ARC connections cost 2-4x as much. I had to adjust the custom settings on my TV (new Samsung) to get the ARC HDMI to work (on expert audio settings use HDMI audio format "Bitstream" with audio format "PCM"). Eventually got it to work though, now can control volume from my TV remote which was my goal. Netflix, Spotify, Antenna, everything works fine. Flat panel TVs these days have awful audio quality and this adds some great audio depth to go along with the excellent picture. Totally changes the way you watch movies. Would definitely recommend for those looking for a cheaper alternative to more expensive soundbars.Addendum:Well, I wrote a review after using it for a week and it was working fine. HDMI ARC worked great the sound was perfectly acceptable for the price. But like I wrote before, I guess you get what you pay for. A couple days after I wrote the review it stopped receiving sound altogether through the HDMI, ARC or non ARC. I hadn't adjusted any settings on the TV. The soundbar just stopped working. I still gave the item 3 stars because it has decent sound quality, the other inputs work, and they have very responsive customer service that tried to work with me to solve the issue. For the price its still hard to beat if you're using the other inputs. However my major reason for purchasing was the HDMI ARC so that I didn't need a separate remote. I am now returning it.

Up until today, I really liked this setup. The sound is decent for the price, the bluetooth works well, but tonight the Subwoofer stopped working after 2 months almost to the day. I'm pretty bummed out because I'm now past the Amazon return window and I'm stuck with a sub that isn't working. I'm trying to get a hold of RSR to get it sorted out and will update the review as it happens.Update- switched back to 3 stars from 2 (originally 4 stars). I received an email from the support group at RSR with instructions to factory reset the system, which turned the sub back on and it's now working fine. If it continues to work fine, I'll likely upgrade the rating again. They replied to me within 24 hours, which is acceptable to me.

Updated review March 2019I had to do a hardware reset because the HDMI ARC would not recognize the CEC on my TCL tv. I submitted a request for help via their website and within 24 hrs their customer service had written back to me with the following instructions.To do a Factory Reset please follow these instructions:While Sound Bar is on standby mode, using the remote, press the (1) rewind > (2) play > (3) fast-forward buttons consecutively in that order. The light on the sound bar will blink red, then blink green, then blink orange, and finally return to standby mode (solid red). Cut power off from the sound bar by removing the power cord from the power outlet, wait a few seconds and then plug it back in.GREAT PRODUCT, GREAT SERVICEI chose to update an older connection unfriendly "Bose Companion 2.1" system to this. Here are a few things I've noticed.Very easy set up. Box is marked with "open from this end". From box to wall mounted in 30-45 min.Balanced Sound. At first I thought I needed to adjust the output of the subwoofer since the Bose system I replaced is very bass heavy but after a combo of listening to music and watching movies I feel like the sound is very balanced. The remote has 3 EQ settings "news, music, & movie".Cables included. This is an incredible convenience, thank you for including the cables.Wired Sub + HDMI ARC. The connectivity options are what led me to this seemingly underpriced soundbar. I have an appleTV going optical (cable included) to my soundbar, and an HDMI ARC from my tv to soundbar. Also can do bluetooth. The wired sub will keep your home's wifi bandwidth less congestedVery happy with this product so far.

Awesome sound, especially for this price! Bluetooth worked pretty good, a little tricky to set up with no display on soundbar. Sound is perfect, not too overpowering and just right for my 20x15 room. Sounds great for music and movies depending on your setting. Remote is a bit terrible, quit working after a few months which left the unit stuck on one input and one volume level...very frustrating. Contacted the company via their website expecting the usual runaround since they weren't a big name electronics firm. Instead they were absolutely amazing. Responded and apoloized and had a new remote to my house within a week. Can't say enough about that kind of service! Also they told me the reason for the small remote is that this sound bar is designed for use with the newer HDMI ARC TV's that let you control the sound bar via your TVs remote. While it will work with older TVs like mine just fine, just know that it will be dependent on this little easy to lose/break remote. No big deal though since they are willing to back their product 100%!
