I got the 12 foot ladder. I don't agree with the critics of this product. When I ordered it I was thinking, based on the previous reviews, that I would be shipping it right back. I was won over and ordered it however because of its' comparative to the normal step ladder design light 23 pounds. But upon using it I found it well engineered, sturdy, and even attractive meeting those common above average German manufacture standards. I am 80 years old and found myself using it with a great deal of confidence and assurance. The one thing I found odd was that it took an extra order to get the outdoors-style pad-feet to replace the installed peg-shaped feet. I do not anticipate the need to rotate back to the original set unless I am on ice.

I did careful research before purchasing the Hailo L100 Topline 8' step ladder.Requirements were:Light weightSturdyEasy to fold and carryWell made and machined without sharp edgesSafety on top platformOn the first four the ladder gets five stars. Because the ladder is comparatively light weight you still need care when working on the top platform. It is not like standing on the ground so use care. The raised hand hold is essential. My only complaint is that this hand hold is made of plastic whereas everything else is aluminum. It also broke in transit. Instead of returning it and being the handy retired person I am I replaced it with a piece of teak. So now my ladder is customized and stronger than the original.

For an indoor ladder, this is a great option. Very light weight yet quite sturdy. Easy to maneuver around furniture and folds easily. Great for indoor service providers such as cleaners or painters, etc..I would not recommend for outdoor work due to small foot bases and too light duty.

I haven’t been able to use the ladder because there were no feet on the front (the side with the steps). The box was also damaged so I don’t know if it was shipped without the parts or if they got lost in transit.

I purchased this product based on its features as described. I waited over 3 months for it to arrive.It was supposed to fold flat - 5" is not flat.It's too tall to store in my shop - when folded it is over 9' tall.It was supposed to be sturdy - the steps are very thin and don't feel at all stable. My employees referred to it as "rickety".There is an "extendable safety loop" at the top so that you can lean further and feel safe. That feature is 1/4" in diameter, extends about 6" and provides no safety or stability.This ladder has a large footprint since it is so tall. The legs are prevented from spreading apart by a small steel cable. When the ladder is folded, the cable hangs loosely on the sides. If you have to move the ladder and carry it horizontally (which is necessary all the time!), the cables hang free & catch on things.And then, once it was returned, it took over 2 weeks to get a credit & they wanted to charge a restocking fee.DO. NOT. RECOMMEND.

I love all the features of this tall ladder. I'm a 71 yr old woman and need it to be lightweight to carry. I love the grab bar at the top to hold on to for stability while I change smoke detector batteries or canned lights. The steps are wide enough to make me feel safe as I climb up. Haven't used it outside yet but will to do my one window in the Spring. I bought the "garden" feet accessory to put on it for soft surfaces. It works for me.

I bought it because it’s not made in China. I kept it because it get’s me up safety / securely to my high DYI tasks around the house. It has already paid for itself because; with it I’ve been able to eliminate expensive / hard to schedule tradesman’s visits for quick chores. I.e. light bulb replacement, dusting, etc

Years ago I bought a 4 step model of this ladder hoping the light weight would still be strong & safe. Upon receiving the 4 step I immediately bought a second one. 10 years later they are both the best ladder I have ever owned. I now have a Home with 10 foot clings and I need a taller ladder. There was only one choice.
