Arrived damaged, very poor customer service from All-Clad
The product arrived with damage. It looks like a part that is easy to replace, but we don't have an authorized repair provider nearby. The information on Amazon instructs me to contact All-Clad customer service. All-Clad customer service responded and said to contact the retailer. Nothing like being sent in a circle with no support. Be aware that if you buy from All-Clad as a seller on Amazon, your only option is a complete return if anything goes wrong. In terms of the waffler maker itself, we decided to try it to see if it works well enough to keep it even though it is damaged. The plates come out easily and wash well. I made buttermilk waffles and used the buttermilk setting. My son doesn't like crispy waffles so we did our first batch on a 2. They came out cooked on the outside and raw on the inside. Bumping it up to a 3 made them crispier than he likes but were great for my husband and I. I would be hesitant to bump it up any higher. The shallow parts are super thin where the plates come together to the point that they came out very dark and almost burnt on a 3. If we keep it, I would have to play around with adding time to a 2 so they don't come out uncooked in the middle and possibly seeing if more baking powder for a fluffier mix can do anything about how thin the insets are for the waffle ridges to keep them from burning. For the price of this waffle maker, I'm extremely disappointed in the service and also a bit disappointed in the product.

You will love this thing!
I’ve made more than a few batches of waffles with this and may need a waffle intervention soon. This unit is not cheap but will make waffles better than most restaurants. The steam it produces and crispy light and fluffy waffles it churns out is impressive. This iron is huge so you better double and triple your recipe, your definitely going to want leftovers to freeze for an easy toaster breakfast. I’ve learned the lock is for storing vertically and not cooking. Not locking the unit prevents it overflowing and again produces super crisp yet fluffy waffles. But still got to read those directions in the manual, this unit is not like the cheap ones at you local big box store. Don’t hesitate on the big price tag, your going to be remembered with this thing and most definitely an appliance that will get handed down.

Perfection!
No more soggy waffles for this family! Very pleased with the results, a very tasty way to make gluten-free or regular waffles without a fuss or mess. Easy to operate and clean.

serous design defects, unsafe to use
This unit has serious design defects and is unsafe to use. 1) the bottom plate will not stay clipped in. There is a spring powered eject mechanism that pushes the plate up and the hold-in clip lets the eject mechanism win and push the plate up all the way. Imagine the bottom plate bouncing up with a hot load of waffle.2) and this is a real laugher. There is a lid / base lock mechanism (to be used only during storage) that locks the upper lid, wait for it, to the bottom plate, not the base, meaning should the bottom plate bounce up, you've got a dancing waffle maker on your shelf. This unit could be quite literally a "hot" mess.

Over engineered
I bought this because of the removable plates that make it easier to clean. However, getting the plates in and out is difficult. The fancy digital controls are not intuitive and over engineered. A simple on/off with an accurate notification of when the waffle maker is heated and ready for batter, then when the waffle is done would be better. And it beeps continuously so forget enjoying your coffee while waiting on your waffle. I wish All Clad would allow me to trade this for the less expensive manual version but no luck with customer service.
