3/8-Inch Drive Master Impact Socket Set w/Case, Metric/SAE

This is a much nicer set than I was expecting for the money. I originally purchased one of Capri's metric sets that has three different sizes of sockets. It was a fantastic set, but since this is for my mobile, track day build-out, the larger set wouldn't fit in my tool case. This set is very nicely finished, and comes in a nice case. I'm not sure the case will last a lifetime, but I'm pretty sure the sockets will. This also has SAE sizes. I don't really ever use SAE, but it's nice to have. My workshop is outfitted with Husky tools, which are nice than these, but they were a lot more expensive.

3 sizes in one set and in a 3/8 . Its a win win. Capri tools been holding up good so far and havent broken any sockets yet, the organizer comes in very handy and serves as a nice aesthetic in the box too

Could reccomemeded more organizer is well built and saves space well and its nice to be able to pick it up as a whole set and bring it to whatever I'm working on and have every size i newd i appreciate that the sockets dont lock onto the rail the pegs hold them securely but its still really easy to remove and put back the sockets as you use them

Great product, great price, overall would buy it over again, I am a professional grease monkey and these stand up next to my snap on sockets just fine. Great value for the money!

Seems like a great set. I purchased these for a specific purpose at my work. Only 4 stars because the rack studs are not spaced correctly so there are odd gaps between the set preventing me from adding on the Individual sockets I could buy to fill out the left over space in the rack.

Excellent socket set. Been using them for awhile now and they are holding up great. They have the sizes laser etched and stamped in them and they are easy to read. The coating is really nice and holding up great. I will definitely buy more tools from Capri tools, they are really good tools for the money.

The capri 3/8 master impact socket set has lived up to every thing they claimed it would. Tough stuff. The only thing I wish capri would have included in the 3/8 master impact socket set is 1/4in shallow and deep well sockets. 5/16 is the smallest. 🫡👍😎

Very Nice Set of Sockets. Seem well built and have laser and engravings. They aren't snap on, but unless your a mechanic who makes a living turning wrenches I don't see anyone needing more. Lifetime Warranty is nice to have, but who knows how hard it is to get a replacement. These will be used for all my general wrenching and Capri's 1/2 socket set for bolts that require major torque. Overall happy with my purchase even though they weren't exactly cheap. Wish I could have bought USA made sockets, but they are way more money and couldn't justify the cost. Giving up my older set to my brother since these were my present to myself. May get the 1/4 set, but wanted to have impact sockets so I could just my impact wrench as much as possible to save my hands/knuckles.

So I got these recently to compliment my 3/8” cordless impact wrench I got back last prime days when I decided to get the impact of my dreams an Ingersoll Rand IQV20 series in 3/8” I had gotten tired of using an adapter to either step down my 1/2” anvil to 3/8” sockets or step up my 1/4” hex impact driver to take 3/8” drive sockets both options were related to my 18 volt Bosch “Freak” which is a 1/4” hex impact driver that has been built into the middle of a 1/2” square drive anvil at the time that was my best option, I was in need of a new drill and impact set after remove and having head my drill, impact driver and impact wrench all three cordless tool stolen and not having enough money at that point in time to replace all three the idea of the Bosch giving me essentially two tools in one plus the drill is a hammer drill. It seemed like the best bang for my buck and it served me very well. There’s only been twice that it wouldn’t remove a wheel lug and both times it was wheel lugs that were seized solid with rust having to almost jump on a breaker bar to get it to budge so the fact that it only has about 150 foot pounds breakaway was fine but it got to the point where I’ve head out grown it and I wanted a dedicated impact wrench something cordless something of good quality and in 3/8 I always wanted an Ingersoll Rand cordless impact think about it like a Cadillac or a Harley Davidson think about it like an aspirational tool the problem was that after getting it, I realize that it was considerably more powerful than what I was used to using. It was even more powerful than my half inch impact wrench from before by about two or three times so I found myself using it with adaptors to step up to half inch impact because pretty much all the impacts I owned were half inch drive and the problem with that being that all of a sudden it doesn’t have the power to break wheel lugs free with that adaptor that it does without, and I don’t dare use it with chromes to really impact something off because for the most part it ends up being used more like a electric ratchet I suppose where it’s used for assembly and disassembly of anything and everything break it free by hand and then zip it out so there was a kid not long after I got it. Canadian will know what I’m talking about it by Mastercraft from the maximum series 150 piece set the issue is that although it may not be skipping anything you might have to go to a nut driver to get the size you need or that type of thing because the particular said I purchased, I thought it was going to be only the very largest and the very smallest and quarter inch and half inch and kind of focussing in on that sweet spot of 3/8 well I’m not quite how it was but for a no skip set of that size I had a hard time turning it down at $150 on sale when it’s regular over two but again I’ve never been happy with that. The issue is that almost without it exception the master sets in 3/8 tend to go from 8 mm to 19 and they started about 5/16 and go to 3/4. Well suddenly that’s missing quarter inch because that is one particular fastener that I find myself working with quite often has quarter inch and 20 and 21 maybe not quite so much but both my vehicles take 22 mm lug nuts so either a case of having to purchase two separate complete rails one for metric and one for SAE covering both shallow and deep in order to get my quarter inch and get my 22 mil or it was to get one of these master sets so fast-forward a little bit recently just decided it was time he was tired of losing the massive amounts of torque that I was losing having to use an impact adaptor to step up from 3H to half inch in order to take wheel lugs off and for the price that I’ve been legitimately intrigued by Capri for a long time their wave drive technology I know what their wrenches is very very obvious. what they’re doing there and it’s essentially a very aggressive RBRT type thing it’s just instead of using the little flutes they’re using specifically placed teeth that it works out to being very similar in function just very different in form and that’s just going off of what I’ve seen and what not I don’t actually have firsthand experience with that specific product, but I’m confident in the assessments from the reviews. I’ve watched and just experience overtime. you can just get a idea of this is gonna work or it’s not etc. now but their sockets I’m still not really sure what’s different. You look at the picture and it shows you how it grabs and we’re talking very my new differences in the grand scheme of things in the way it grabs my note enough that I haven’t been able to really focus in and see a visual difference like I was kind of expecting them to have a slight twist in inside of them or something so I’m I’m still rather unsure about that particular thing or if it’s just what they’re calling having relief holes cut at the very corners of the hex design, which then forces the socket to grab on the flat as opposed to on the corners themselves but I can’t see that being the case that’s old news. There’s nothing groundbreaking there. There’s something that I’m looking at and just not seeing even though it’s right in front of my eyes what I do know is that they fit on fasteners beautifully they transfer energy just fine. They have a nice weight to them. I really like the fact that not only are they laser etched so you can really see. It’s got that high this thing going on, but that they’re also role marked so when the inevitable happens that you’ve used these to the point where there’s no more markings to be seen on the phosphate finish 30 seconds with a pen marker filling where the roll mark is and then you wipe it clean leaves all the low spots filled with whatever colour you chose oil cleaning up the rest. It’s actually really slick little technique. It doesn’t work out quite as nicely on. These really sent me type finishes. It tends to kind of smudge out, leaving almost a halo effect when un socked it’s like this that are brand new but you don’t need to do it right now either so after kind of looking around and pricing different options out I was left with the original choice which would have been a gear wrench set, but turns out not only has the price going up significantly up October but it skips a couple of sizes which are of importance to me the SUNEX master set which by all accounts is supposed to be about about the best non-tool truck brand impact sockets money can buy a specific set, but rather the brand as a whole ….it also left TEKTON which I have a soccer or two of theirs as well as one of their rebranded trusty cook dead blow ball peen hammers and obviously Capri. All of them are all reputable brands. All of them to my knowledge are Taiwanese all of them come with the lifetime warranty. All of them are within the same price range give or take, but when it comes down to it bang for the buck the Capri was the one set that came with the most in it as far as accessories, a swivel a couple of reasonable length extensions that sort of thing, while having absolutely no skips and coming in a blow moulded case with good claps to hold it closed and using actual hinges as opposed to just the bottom and the top half having a little flap of plastic left linking them together to act as a pseudo hinge that will inevitably at one point or another fail and because about 50% of the work, I will use these for will be like changing tires and automotive related work outside in the driveway that makes a difference to me whereas if I had a shopper, I was working at a garage something in foam or on a rail would’ve been a preferable choice but a good well built case was something that adds value to it for my application even in my own shop where it’s motorcycle dominated small gas related I can grab my set of impact light them down in the case and just grab and go as I need and for peace of mind and just to be able to use it for all applications. I went ahead and purchased myself a quarter inch deep 3/8 drive impact socket and a 22 mm deep 3/8 drive impact socket and although I’m still waiting for the quarter inch drive I decided that it didn’t matter if it was the same brand or not as long as it was something reputable so I managed to find SUNEX for the 22 mm and with boat 30 seconds of cutting a fashion day relief in the lid that allows made it keep the 22 mm in the set with the rest in a way that easy to remove and put back in place but doesn’t just fall out as soon as you open the lid all thanks to my trustee Swiss Army knife god love the 111mm Outrider but I digress my first time using it was actually to change my wife’s oil and it was nice when I started it and by the time I ended, it was raining and I will say that that was a good test for the finish of these impact sockets, they were soaked so when I was done, I brought them in. Gave the set a quick wipe down. Let it sit open overnight inside the house not a single one had any discolouration or showing any signs of corrosion so I just went ahead and sprayed the entirety of the set with red rust check basically a thin spray and touch up undercoating that’s an amazing multipurpose lubricant think WD-40 but of much better quality and more use applications. You can leave your tools out in an uninsulated unheated storage shed year after year winter after winter with no worries of pitting and corrosion as long as you have them, treated with thrust check and give them a quick wipe down and re-application after each use I’ve been doing it for years. The socket serve more than I could really ask for when compared to something like the Mastercraft said that they essentially were bought in order to replace. Yeah the price is a little bit steep because you can get 150 piece set for about $25 more when it comes on sale but half of the things in that set I’ve never used. I’ve got no use for and I don’t have a quarter inch impact to take advantage of so it becomes a case of using adaptors to simply use sizes that I need with the tool I have. It’s more logical tomato have a smaller well curated set that everything fits the tool that I’m using and nothing good is cheap and to find anything cheap that is good now is getting more and more rare by the day now that’s all relative and in comparison to certain brands and what not it’s definitely cost-effective set to get however it is still a high-end brand really because that’s that kid ourselves, especially anybody reading this from Canada. It doesn’t matter where your sockets are made unless you’re buying something like gray it’s not made here. It’s an import, including your fancy Snap-on and if you happen to be like myself and absolutely love the RBRT stuff for Mac the jarring reality is that it is all made almost exclusively in Taiwan I’ve yet to receive a single RBRT item that was not labelled made in Taiwan what there are not that really matters in the grand scheme of things could really go either way I tend to believe that we’re at the point now that lake electric guitars, the best electric guitars tend to be Japanese same thing with cars that with tools your time when these tools are essentially the best you can get outside of Japanese and sadly like the guitars in the cars is the Japanese made items tend to come with a premium that reflects their quality and their workmanship and what not and is it at least for us Canadians tends to put the price right up there with the tool truck brands but I definitely don’t have any regrets with this except for not having gotten that sooner and I look forward to really putting it to heavy use of the near future. It does the thing it does it beyond well what more could somebody want from their tools?
