Where the Sky Begins: A Novel

A Feel-Good Read
This was my first by this author; I found it as a Kindle Daily Deal and liked the premise. It was a feel-good read. The protagonist, Josie, was smart and ethical and hard-working. She was poorly educated and stuck in a low income lifestyle. WWII changed everything, and her gradual journey to expanded knowledge, self-esteem, and hope took several years. A lot happened to her, and the events were interesting yet still very believable. I enjoyed this a lot. The ending left the reader a number of potential happy endings from which to choose.

Lovely story of persistence and resilience.
The horrors of war on the home front for British, not knowing what to expect of the future or even the present, in the person of some of those surviving so many losses. That would seem depressing but in reality the main character refuses to accept defeat and helps those around her one day at a time. Great inspiration, and excellent story.

Educational experiences
I did enjoy this book, although I though it dragged a bit. I thought her portrayal of London at war was amazing! Next time I go to England, I want to spend time in the countryside.I really appreciated the author for not filling her novel with 4 letter words and descriptive sex. It's so difficult today to find good clean reading material. I liked how Josie never gave up and improved her station in life. Good job!

Love begins and ends....
Excellent reading about WWII at an RAF base in East Central England. So much personalization in this story that makes the whole time seem so real due to the details of what happened to the people of London. Then a woman and 3 children who were being evacuated from London have to learn how to begin again.

great story
The current generation has no idea how hard life can be—so much is taken for granted. I heard many stories from my 4 grand parents. Life was not easy. Reading stories about the war—even fiction, reminds me of how hard life can become overnight. I wish all young people were required to understand this.

Great Story
This WW2 story is not like so many. It was rather authentic, but it was different because of all of the interesting places she lived. Really good twists and turns, so you never knew how it would end!

A Great Read
I really liked this book, it was easy to read and have me quite a lot of information about rationing in WW2 that I didn't already know. I pretty much guessed the plot as I read it but that didn't matter at all. I'd definitely recommend it to others.

Very enjoyable
A lovely book well written and an easy read. Josie the main character is a beautiful person who draws the reader into her life as an evacuee during WW11 after losing everything in a bombing raid in London. Well worth a read
